Invis used to break on any interaction (to be true to lore/function).

Will invisibility allow you to pickpocket NPC's easily as well? If so, that's a pretty bad exploit imo.

By the way, does the pickpocket/thief skill rise with use and if so, where can we see that progression?

Doesn't work against NPCs but you can steal and loot as much as you want from crates when youre invisible

I don't think it's an exploit at all. Think about it. You get caught (or receive a bounty) stealing when someone witnesses your crime. You are invisible. Even if they notice the desk drawers opening, how would they report you? They can't see you, therefore cannot identify you.

As well, the fact you need to farm the materials the make the pots (or purchase them - high cost) will stop some people. Those who harvest a lot anyways and have the extra materials will profit.

I was only suggesting it as an exploit if effective on NPC's. Since it's being reported it doesn't work on NPC's, I agree and see no issue with it working on objects.

    Bag o' flour.

Sure, I can't see you. I can however, see the big hole where you're not...

When ZOS gives the NPC's such high tech anti-theft devices such as bag o' flour, I will surely retract my statement. ;)

So they removed the ability to steal while invisible for Nightblades, but left in the ability to steal while invisible by using potions?

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom or @ZOS_GinaBruno is this an intended use of invisibility potions, or did the reports of this issue on PTS get missed?

At a guess they did this because allowing Nightblades to do this at no cost would be unbalancing (the only resource you're expending to be able to collect a bunch of stuff with no consequences is magicka, which regenerates for free), while allowing potions to be used for this is inherently balanced out by the fact that you're using up alchemy components to do it.

I bet the design process on that was something along the lines of "How could we make Shadow Cloak even less useful of a 'skill' than it already is? I know! How about a potion for all classes that does exactly what shadow cloak does, only it actually works!"

What a waste of bag o' flour!

The NPC should keep that high tech device safely locked up in a lockbox!

Seriously though, I don't have a problem with it, because it costs money and/or time. There is also no guarantee that any particular house will have something reaaaaaly good to steal in it.

Respect your point of view; but, since one version of this technique was removed, would much rather receive some official response as to whether this is intended or an exploit.

Is stealing really that hard that you need to be invisible? I just ransacked the port at Vulkel Guard (VR6 zone for me) with my DK, it was pretty simple. Set auto loot, grab everything while stealth is working, don't steal when someone can see you. Rinse and repeat for a few days until you get your legerdemain skill has a few ranks, then you can try riskier stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like an official response on that too. I'm just guessing at what the response would probably be, and what the reasoning behind it would probably be. It's nothing more than a guess.

There's still the sell limit for the fence, which isn't too hard to hit in a major city even without invisibility.

Yeah, but with invis you'll be able to check for loot faster and will have the advantage of filling that limit with high priced items in a short time, therefore increasing your average theoretical gold gain per hour with other sources combined, compared to those that do not use it.

Another option could be to just make the ingredients for invis pots become rarer, which might be an interesting approach, so for the pots to become more expensive and thus effectively lowering your gold gain again.

I might be wrong but can't you already just look in the boxes without getting notoriety if you don't steal from them? If this is the case then, check first then drink a potion and rob with no consequence if there is anything good.

Yup that works fine, just tried it, level one legerdemain, bit trivial?
