" Vegetables will increase your stamina" - What About Bosmer with Stamina Build?

redwoodtreesprite2
"Food made with the following ingredients will increase the respective attribute:

Meat will increase your health
Fruit will increase your magicka
Vegetables will increase your stamina"

Uh, wood elves don't eat vegetables. They only eat meat. Why do it this way? Some people actually like to play their characters in a lore fashion.

Bosmer can eat vegetables that are imported. You'll see NPC Bosmer eating fruit too. Just assume it's imported and go about your business.

Zenimax clearly intended Wood Elves to consume "Meat Salad":
Flank Steak Lettuce, Spicy Pepperoni Carrots, Meatball Radishes, Cucumber Sausages, Tomato Salami, and Pork Croutons. Mmmm....

Not all Bosmer are strict carnivores. Those strictures of the Green Pact seems to be less and less observed the further you get from Valenwood. You even meet some rangers who protect the border of the woods who are pretty relaxed about it.

Fairly sure as long as you harvest from Tutorial Island, Auridon, Reaper's March, Cold Harbor, Cyrodil, Crag, or Vet Zones you aren't strictly breaking the pact by eating veggies.

Plus until you complete Coldharbor your already soulless so there is that.

Auridon zone chat warned me that 1.6 would break the game, but I never dreamed it could end up like this----!

Not in wyld'est midnight vision might I have conjured such a treacherous truth. And with its lurking presence known, might some tonic hence besoothe? Alas! I shall earn no comfort hence besought. Mine days be wretched, and mine nights be wrought. Doth a Hotfix cometh, ZOS, or wot?

I was having trouble with this when I had a Bosmer. I dearly wished that we could still harvest alchemy items off of creatures like we were able to in old Elder Scrolls games. I finally decided that fungus didn't count as plants, and thus was able to make some potions through alchemy for her, and at some point I had another character make the potions and give them to her without telling her what was really in them. But food wasn't too much of a problem then. Now, however, I'm glad that I decided to reroll as a khajiit and a dunmer. They're not quite as picky.

@redwoodtreesprite2 You don't seem to understand the Green Pact very well. Bosmer are free to eat vegetation or "harm nature" that is not native to Valenwood. This is why Bosmer import things such as wood from other provinces. It's not a pact with all nature, just the nature that is native to Valenwood.

Having just gone through the Bosmer areas for the AD side of things for Cadwell, the Bosmer sure seem to be revolted at the mere thought of eating pumpkins and potatoes, and I remember one journal where a Bosmer shared in a scandalizing tone that she actually ate a salad! And liked it!

So while the Green Pact seems to be centered around Valenwood, eating vegetation still seems to be frowned upon in the culture.

Try telling that to all the Vegetable Rights Activists handcuffing themselves to the front doors of ZOS headquarters.

As long as the vegetables and fruit naturally fall off the plants they come from, then there's no problem with the Bosmer eating them. I think. That's actually a little weird, though, because if they eat fruit that fell off a plant then they're preventing that fruit's seeds from growing. Unless maybe they then plant the seeds and care for them?

    Bosmer are weird.

It'll take some getting used to, because what makes sense to me would be:

Fruit for stamina, because carbohydrate is an energy source.
Vegetables for health, because mother knows best and you're not leaving this table until you eat them.
Meat for magicka, as an organic vessel of everything from sacrifices to souls to flesh atronachs.

I know it's not going to change anytime soon, but maybe down the road there could be research where you can rearrange these or put those three attribute points into other things like armor, weapon damage, etc. Individualize your cooking style, basically.

It only took me a few days to hit Prov 50 so I honestly don't know if the change will make it interesting or boring. I liked the old system. I'm guessing no more mushroom food, as it's not a fruit, vegetable, or meat.

The Green Lady the bosmer spiritual leader answers this in the Loremaster's archive in the link below:

    elderscrollsonline.com/en-gb/news/post/2014/10/24/loremasters-archive-yffres-beckoning

Honestly when this came out I was kinda happy, because it answered a lot of questions I had before. I mean you only hear/read about the Green Pact in the Pocket Guide to the Empire, and we know that those are all Imperial propaganda to show that only the imperials are the only true civilized race and that their empire is the only empire that should exist. So when ZOS had gone with that rote I didn't like that they would stick with what had been said by foreigners about the bosmer, especially since no other book ever mention the Green Pact, and the fact in past games no bosmer npc ever mention it, and they all eat fruits and veges like it was nothing. In the end it is nice to get such clarifications and deep understanding for such complex yet simple matters.
