Suggestion: Naming Crafted Items

After crafting a ton of Staves of the Seducer and seeing some uncraftable items with some awesome names attached to them, why isn't there a system for naming crafted weapons or armor?

I know the second you let everyone have complete freedom with weapon names is when you get things like xX(insert xbox gamertag here)Xx, so my suggestion would be to make a list of 1-2 acronym words that randomize on crafting a piece of gear (with options to turn off the naming feature if you don't want your stuff named). It would add some flavor to player's crafting and make some crazy stories for the person wielding the gear.

Let me hear your thoughts on the matter public.

I like the idea, perhaps the option could be available only when an item is upgraded to Legendary quality, to give that expensive gear some "flair" (not unlike Lord of the Rings Online's crafting system). However, without any kind of inspect system in place yet, it becomes kind of a moot point, without people spamming their items in chat.

Honestly, there were times when I was mad about the need to name any crafted gear of a certain quality in LotRO. Sometimes, I didn't want to name anything but simply worked through a stack of bars for the crafting experience. But, crafting is completely different there, so this might not occur too often in ESO. However, I agree with Beastnas: Who would notice that awesome name that you gave to your mighty 2h sword?

I too would like to be able to name crafted stuff, similar to Dragon Age.

It would be kind of a pointless feature for a person just grinding through levels to v14 as fast as possible.

I would suggest weapon naming more for the roleplay aspect. I had a smith who would always use a pair of daggers while leveling and would always name them. As I out leveled them I would sell them to another player and tell them the names of the blades. If they didn't want to play along or keep the name then oh well, at least their legacy carries on somewhere.

Just having the option would add a new level of flavor to crafting that everyone could enjoy.

Plus it would be pretty funny to sell a decked out heavy armored Nord Dragonknight, a 2 handed axe named Sweetroll.

I like the idea, I just wonder how easy it might be to abuse. I know, for example, that I would be tempted to sell that axe to that Nord named "All Nords Smell" or "No Nords in Morrowind Please" and run away giggling...

... that might just be my inner Dunmer speaking though.

That's why I suggested a random word system. Pick 1 or 2 syllable words from a pre-determined list or have the system pick them randomly depending on your choice and it would name the weapon as it's crafted into your inventory.

Giving people absolute freedom like that would just make Zenimax have to make a new kind of profanity filter and create more work for themselves from all the reports of people spamming inappropriately named legendary grade weapons.

I remember I made a custom weapon once in Morrowind that had Ice, Demoralize, Sound and Frenzy on it. I named it "My Ex-Girlfriend"
