Terrible latency

Since last maintenance ive been having horrible latency, constantly 2 out of 3 bars, 200-999 ping keeps spiking. Also if a bigger fight occurs i can still chat ingame but everything else is frozen then it drops my connection with no error message.

I play EU server and use virgin media, Anyone else got issues?

You're not the only one unfortunately. In the PvE zones my latency seems to be almost double what I would normally get and once I enter Cyrodill then I get the same thing happening as you. Other's mentioned it in guild chat the other night and they were from around Europe. I've seen one thread where a mod asked if it had been slightly better for a brief bit after the last maintenance which suggests to me, whether rightly or wrongly, that something was done that's affected things.

Abraxus I play on the same server and lots of times same campaigns as you and exactly the same mate. I with virgin and since the maintenance massive pings in cyrodiil and outside cyro aswell, disconnects and lag. They have certainly managed to mess things up just as update 6 is coming out. GG

Yep, the past week has been terrible.
I've never had problems with disconects before but last night was so bad I gave up trying to PvP.

I too have had terrible latency on the EU server, To such an extent that I contacted my ISP Virgin Media to check if there was any issues within my area, I usually play with latency ranging around 56-80MS, Occasionally in extreamly populated area's it hits just over 100MS, I'm on Virgin Media's 152Mb/s package, And fortunately for me, I actually get 161Mb/s, I have never had issues untill this week.

I am currently getting 160-240MS with it spiking too 550-999+MS on occasions, Its made the combat feel sluggish and less enjoyable for sure, I actually now feel really sorry for folks that are forced to play at 250MS + constantly due to distances from the servers.

After a few tracerts to 206.80.46.186, I found I had a time out on the 4th jump, and a large spike in the time it jumps at around jump 8, Giving a reading between 200-350MS, with the following jumps after at over 186MS, Which is probably what is leading to the occasional spikes in latency in-game.

Yep, I spent about half an hour in Cyrodil tonight but it was just to bad, got frozen then kicked during every fight so I abandoned it.

Perhaps they are diverting resources preparing for patch downloads ?
Patchtime = LAG central ?

I am on sky broadband .....so I will see tonight and report back any issues.
PVE has been 60/RED (upto +999) for 50/50 last week for me.
Could be a router mid journey.

Same here, 100mb virgin media broadband ping is showing 7ms and ingame 200 to 999+ in fights then disconnects, I have been trying to push emp all week and cant because i disconnect when all the best fights happen.

Anyone rung virgin yet? Seams a lot of people are having this issue around the internet and they are on same isp. possible p2p throttling.

It looks like Rune_Relic is on sky and there's threads in the alliance war section and the technical sections where people in the US are experiencing the same thing which would suggest it isn't Virgin.

As I stated in my earlier reply, I have already contacted Virgin, Its not on there side.

Run a tracert to 206.80.46.186, if you dont know how to do this, Goto the start menu in windows and type tracert 206.80.46.186 and press enter, the first 3 lines are your connection, Beyond that is ZoS, I get a time out on jump 4 which seems to have a knock on effect which worsens after jump 8, By running the tracert and either printing out what your results are via a screenshot, or posting written results of bad jumps, perhaps they'll be able too find the issue a little easier

same issue here virgin media, ports opened, various ping tests to me showing that it's the game that's the issue not the isp.

I am now thethering to my phone on three network, i have 2gb left of data, but it has fixed the problem. So it must be virgin media.

My guess is that ESO has changed something and now virgin is throttling it as it thinks its P2P. They did it with wow when Telia changed stuff. Suppose we will have to get on the phone tomorrow for virgin to check before starting with zenimax.

Doesn't Virgin Media advertise though they don't throttle whatsoever on their 60MBit and higher packages?

What about the guy above who uses Sky and gets the same experience?

Nice that has worked for you, But there are people on other threads from the US and other area's of the EU also suffering the same thing; Using Comcast and a few other networks, Also there are Sky users in the UK suffering too, Its definately the server, As I can play any other online game, And have no lag/issues, As a Virgin Media user

Exactly the same for me! I think with the 4th ping in the tracert dropping is where we're all getting packet loss.

So I've just been on the phone to virgin after several tests everything seems fine there end, I asked if the policy had changed recently on p2p in which it hasn't, it's still got the limit for peak time though if you go over they'll decrease by 10% for an hour go over again decreases by 16% and so on and so on but even if you played eso all day long this would never go over.

After all the information I believe that this issue has arisen since the maintenance last week which concerns me that zenimax has changed something to try give us better performance but it's actually done the opposite, I did several test on other MMO's to see if I was having latency issues and the conclusion from DCUO,SWTOR,NEVERWINTER,ARCHEAGE is no all ran without a problem.

There appears to be something about the network protocol for this game that makes the operators of the large Internet backbones think it is peer-to-peer spam traffic or something, and throttle it. I think the huge networking problems for this game are going to be its demise unless they find a way around it soon.
