Someone was doing some Companion app for Android not sure what is the status on that.
However the things you mention are not possible to add into it. You cannot do anything remotely in game or view any data. Basically what people most likely will be doing is some databases of maybe recipies, craft info, mobile build planner and other informations which do not require login to the game.
I'm sure it's purely security reasons that ZOS doesn't allow outside login to the game.

How is that "not possible" ? Like i said , Rift got a companion app that makes you login your accout , then your character.
You can chat in-game with your guild , you can manage some stuff , even gain items.
So that is possible.
And why security reasons ? They dont even let you login to website without entering the access code , same thing will happen for companion app.

For clarification, what I believe @Syntse is refering to is 3rd part app creators cannot make anything which logs in. ZOS COULD make something like that since they have access to internal mechanics and what not.
I'm a bit confused on the point "Almost all games that released after 2014 got some kind of app to let people interact with the game", yet using Rift as an example, which released in 2011.
Still, much like many of the ideas posed, I think it would be great in theory, presuming they pull it off competently. Not to mention
