Do future characters receive Champion Points when they reach VR1?

I understand Champion Points apply to your account - how does this work for future characters I have not yet created?

For example if I have earned 100 Champion points on my account from various characters, in the future if I make a new character, does it receive these points to spend upon reaching VR1?

Also, the Champion Points are permanent, correct? In other words, even if I delete the character that earned 100 Champion points, all my future characters would still always get 100 CP to spend upon reaching vet rank, right?

They get the points, its account wide, the bonus 70 CP max applies only to your account that you had over VR 1 as of 1.6 release.

Thanks, Scotia - do you know if future new characters will start out with all these points available, or is it something that becomes unlocked to spend when they reach vet rank?

Yes, all your characters, present and future will have access to the amount of CP you've earned on your account as soon as you exit the Character Creator.

What I would like to know is if you can earn CP while leveling an alt. IE if you're unlocked the Champion System by having a few Veteran Level Characters and you start playing an alt, will gaining experience on that alt also gain you CP?

Wow, starting from Coldharbour our new low level characters will have all these passives? It seems PVE will become much easier. Will be a good thing to help us grind to level up them up quickly I suppose.

Yes, my understanding is that alt will earn account-wide CP as soon as that it reaches VR1 (or at least a certain amount of XP closer to VR2).

Nope you only gain Enlightenment based on X time, regardless if you are online or offline. Being on an alt doesn't grant you any faster Enlightenment (a stupid mechanic by ZoS). We should gain CP by XP regardless of what character you are on. considering the sub 50's will earn XP at a slower rate it would still balance it all out, but they had to come up with this ridiculous Enlightenment system instead. They should've just copied the way Trion does it for Rift.

Keep in mind that you are talking about a few % increase on a level 13 or w/e lowbie you have. So if you're doing 100 DPS now you might be doing 103 DPS in 1.6. Not so impressive with small numbers.

Now I'm confused, can you explain a bit more how Enlightenment works? As long as the character is above VR1, don't we gain CP from every 1 million XP (or whatever the figure is), with any character?

Enlightenment is like rested XP but only for the Champion System. While on Enlightenment you gain CP at a rate of 4x the normal speed. On PTS it takes 400K XP to get 1 CP. So if you were Enlightened the entire time you gained 1 CP it would only take 100K worth of XP since it's 4x speed. Enlightenment is gained at a slow rate and is only based on real time, something like 10 minute intervals. You can gain Enlightenment up to iirc 3 days worth of CP or 3 CP, I can't remember which it is tbh. Maybe it's that you gain it at a rate that after 3 days you'll have enough to be at 4x speed through 3 CP.

Enlightenment is separate from your Characters, it's only time based. However, only a LvL 50 (VR1+) can use the Enlightenment to earn the next CP.

Once a day all accounts earn enlightenment bonus. This bonus is 4 times normal experience up to 400,000. This means earning 100,000 normal experience will net you 400,000 champion experience. 400,000 champion experience equals 1 champion points.

The enlightenment is account wide and given at the same time every day.

The enlightenment bonus can stack up to 1,200,000 champion exp or in other words 300,000 normal exp x4. This means players should log throughout the week to use the bonus to stay under the cap 1.2 million cap.

Levels 1-49 can not earn champion experience. Vet 1-14 can earn champion points. These points are account wide and each character has access to the total earned.

A level 1 character has equal champion points to spend as a Vet 14 though only Veteran characters can earn them.

Thank you guys so much for this excellent explanation!

Just to confirm, I won't lose any of the account wide points if I delete the character that earned them, correct?

Nope because it's on your Account.

All your new characters will start with 600 available points (or whatever your account-wide total is), and then you get to pick however you want to allocate the points for each character.

BTW this is very old thread from 2 years ago
