So I have decided to use the time between now and March 7th (release of 1.6) to really discover which class theme I like the most to focus as my main.

I do not have the time to discover all the classes at max level as I have a busy life sadly.

Between Sorcerers and Dragonknights I am looking to make a spellblade class.

Someone who is enhanced by magic in melee combat. So yes it would be stamina based.

I know DK's already suit the role the most (Reflects, wep buffs, stamina synergy) however I am deeply interested in the Sorcerers as they are the "underdog" class...also they seem to be interesting enough to warrant exploration.

I don't like destro and HATE resto....so it would be a semi-hybrid but more focused onto stamina...5 medium 2 heavy probably....

What is everyone's thoughts on a DW Stamina sorc for pve solo silver / gold and trials?

This will get moved but i`ll help you with how the class will be in 1.6:

It used to work well but with the Surge change it doesn`t mix that well... you NEED the surge for healing and the Lightning form for mitigation + bound armor. The problem with this is that the Lightning form does damage..... that can crit... so with the surge cooldown... you will get healed from the very low crits from the Lightning form and not from your big melee hits.

This will gimp you a lot as the damage you will heal will be inconsistent.... sometimes you will survive fine then the next time your healing will only come from the Lightning form and you will die.... fast.

Not saying its not viable.... just saying that it is inconsistent at healing and removing the Lightning form will improve your healing BUT you lose a lot of mitigation..

Also, in 1.5, surge gave a lot of weapon damage, enough to make sorcerers nr. 1 in weapon damage.... no longer the case in 1.6 as it gives a flat buff 2h weapons give.

The other problem in 1.6 is the magicka regen... with the removal of the 10% cost reduction you won`t be able to keep both your magicka abilities up...

Lastly, in the damage department.... other classes have other stamina abilities to add to the melee stamina play, the sorcerer, as you noticed, has none. Except one toggle... that by the way looks very cool for melee.

For normal content... you will be good as you can keep yourself up with the heals... but when you start taking more damage the inconsistency will hurt. For example in every group delve, craglorn, any group area... and so on.

If they remove the Surge cooldown... then it will be fine, if they keep it... well its your choice if you play it or not but the inconsistency did get on my nerves while trying it out on the PTS.
