Vampire NPC not spawning near Wayshrines

Skooma_Merchant
So I got bit by a bloodfiend the other day and have the vampirism effect in my character menu. I've read multiple guides and talked to multiple people and in order to progress in any way, I need to talk to some NPC that spawns at the wayshrines. I have yet to see such NPC. Is this a bug or did I miss something?

You need to enter the crypt and complete the quest first I thought...

crypt is in the final alliance zone I thought Bangkori, Reaper's Marsh and The Rift google vamp crypt locations should get you there. Will be a quest waiting for you on the shrine.

I'm at the shrine now bc someone told me to go there. No quests or NPCs are spawning.

The npc does spawn near the shrine, I found that the vampire one spawns further away from the shrine than the werewolf one (for AD). You need to be careful however since the status effect you get from the mob can be purged and if it does the npc will vanish. Once had the quest npc vanish as I went to talk to them since someone nearby used purge.

The vampire shrine. Tried multiple wayshrines. Someone said there should be a scroll on the alter. There isn't

That to me sounds like you have lost the bite, as someone mentioned before it may have been purged, try getting someone to bite you if that doesn't work press on and make a ticket!

Even tho I still have the active effect?

I wouldn't trust the effects they have been known to be more than buggy, try get a buddy to bite you if they can't or that doesn't work lodge a ticket via the website not the game =)

    Hey there @Skooma_Merchant,

The wayshrine you will need to travel to is the one closest to the major city in the highest level area of your alliance. This is Riften in The Rift for Ebonheart, Rawl'kha in Reaper's March for Aldmeri, and Evermore in Bankorai for Daggerfall. Let us know if you find the NPC at the corresponding wayshrine!

I would just like to add to this that these wayshrines (at least the one at Rawl'kha) are very active with a large number of players. As there players are there, waiting or going about whatever it is they are doing, they often spam skills. The debuff the mobs give that enables the npcs to show up for the player can be purged by Purge, and I'm assuming the templar's purge as well. Is it intended that this effect can be removed by other players without the infected player wanting to cure themselves before picking up the quest?

Sadly this is a problem, some people simply like annoying others by spamming their stupid AoEs and in this case can actually destroy another player's questing.

The bite should put a buff on the player which prevents this unwanted Purge unless the player does something (no idea what, something trivial and convenient) to remove the buff if (s)he does want curing.

Yes travel to the largest city in the faction you were bitten. Walk around near the city gates and possibly a little inside. I found the vamp quest giver in a tavern in Riften. He was leaning against the wall just chilling. This was several months ago so his position I guess could have changed.

I was having the same problem. Ebonheart Pact. I (finally after a good hour of looking) found the NPC outside the Southeastern gate of Riften leaning up against the light post.

That could be set up a bit easier...

Wait, the Vampire bite can be purged off you before you can complete the quest? How the hell is this a thing?

Yes they can be purged. Same for WW bites. There is a skill, some purify I think Templars use that will kill the bite and bug the quest. This should NOT happen but it does.
