1.6 Provisioning Question

I noticed the prices on grocer items went up (understandable, they were pretty cheap), but the prices of "old" ingredients did not. I thought the purpose of the old ingredients was to give us a chance to replace them with the new items from the grocer. Selling every old ingredient I had didn't give me enough to buy one simple stack of bananas or whatever from the grocer, much less replace it all. Was this missed when the price was changed? Or have you moved positions on this issue and are not going to allow us to get even credit for existing ingredients?

About half to two-thirds of the "old" ingredients get converted into "new" ingredients. It's the remaining one-third or so that get labelled as "old" and need to be sold off. I see your point, but my Guild Banks are still full of Provisioning ingredients and I haven't yet found a recipe that I can't make because I'm lacking the items.

Also, high-level Provisioning Writs give tons of items now - six small stacks of ingredients as well as a recipe. So it should be easy enough to restock quickly.

Yeah, some items converted, but let's look at pepper. Used to be rare ingredient that you could sell in a guild store for thousands, now almost worthless in that regard and in 1.6 you'll be able to sell as "old" but you won't even get enough to buy a stack of non-rare ingredients for your stack of pepper.

The prices were the same for old and buying replacements in 1.6.0, then after some complaints about stuff being too cheap they raised prices on the new stuff in 1.6.2, but not the old to compensate.

ZOS specifically stated (and multiple times IIRC) that the 'old' ingredients can be sold for the same price the new ones have exactly so that players can exchange old for new and do not feel like they lost in the transition. Thus i assume this issue is simply an oversight.

Cool, I thought that's what I had read back when all this change started. Hopefully they'll fix it.

It might be because they don't want people to stock up on old ingredients and sell them in bulk after the transition. Even for 10g, a stack is worth 1000g. It's very easy money.

Well, then they need to drop the prices of new stuff back down.

True. I've been using the rare ingredients which don't convert to make stacks of blue and purple food items - especially the V5 recipes which we know become V10 foods in 1.6. That seems like a good use of them, since the stacks of food will continue to be valuable.

I know of other players who have been selling them off to people who haven't got around to reading any of the patch notes for 1.6 and don't realise that they won't be rare or valuable any more, although that seems unscrupulous to me.
