Bring back the old version of this passive! Now I have no reason to invest any skill points into this passive, and will not do so if it remains the same when 1.6 goes live. 30% increase to potion efficiency is WAY better than the new effect. why was this new effect implemented to begin with?

Ultimate gain versus potion efficiency. Well lets see here... The ultimate gain pre-1.6 was fine to begin with.. They should of nerfed DK and NB gain and buffed Sorc and Templar gain.

Old passive is 100x better, I'm with you here Cody. Give us back the old passive or buff the new one so that every time we use a potion we get 25/50 ultimate. Cause 4/8 is a cruel joke... I get that much ultimate when I take a dump in the morning

It is a complete joke. As an Argonian NB I am feeling pretty screwed at nearly every turn; My one GOOD racial was replaced with crap, a good NB ability was replaced with crap, my hybrid build is now not viable, other NB abilities nerfed, still others moved to stamina with no good reason.........I am pretty fed up with it and the seeming idiocy behind it all.

The effect clearly changed because of the new buff/debuff system.
30% more on buffs like weapon power and spell power wouldn't have been possible.

Imho it would have been better keep that 30% at least on health, magicka, stamina or get health, magicka, stamina when consuming a potion (even if too similar to Amphibious, Argonian passive skill).

As written already in many discussions, like this one about NB in general , this one about all the passive skills related to alchemy and several others, it seems nobody likes the new Catalyst.

I haven't seen the change. but can i assume that chugging a potion gives ultimate now instead? If so this indeed does sound pretty poo.

Don't potions now apply the minor or major buffs? so it wouldn't have been possible to boost them by 30% only the health/stam/magicka recovery.

Yes Iza, but minor and major buffs can't be higher than the ammount provided, at least from what devs explained about this buff/debuff system.
Speaking about the most used potions (Tri potion, Panacea of Weapon and Spell Power), in 1.6 they grant major buffs.

If you check Nourishing (The Lord) in Champion System, it gives a bonus simply to the effect of healing potions.

It's clear then that these buffs/debuffs can't go further for stacking reasons.

The only way to have a better Catalyst is to change it into one of the ways suggested in other threads or what I posted here.

Yeah the change to Catalyst (and Argonian Amphibious) is just so frustrating. Even with the new way Ultimate is generated, there is no real need to invest in the passive as it is in 1.6. The passive it replaced was far more effective and versatile.

Sorcerers and Nightblades, who have no reliable self-heals (only HoTs, mostly based on damage dealt, number of targets hit, or critting, and that largely do not proc against damage shields) rely heavily on potions to keep up with DK and Templar health sustain. Sorcerers get a class damage shield, NBs got stronger potions. So, NB survivability and versatility was directly connected to potion usage, which is (one of the reasons) why the Catalyst passive change is so terrible.

To give a personal example, my Argonian NB tank, which has +45% potion effectiveness and +41% healing received (and a mix of potion speed and health potion buff glyphs), gets over 1.5k hp from health potions in PvE. What's great is that this costs no resources, unlike other class's abilities; however, it has a fairly large cooldown and can get pretty costly in terms of gold, which seems a fair tradeoff considering the other things I had to sacrifice to get those stats that high. Now this balance and utility is completely gone from 1.6. While I will still be able to tank well in 1.6, my PvP capabilities are going to take a pretty big hit because, with the removal of softcaps and other subtle nerfs, 70 Champion Points is not enough to get me back to my current capabilities.
