This topic has been argued to death. You are starting off with a maximum of 70, and that's not likely to change.

Haha. You obviously have no knowledge of the champion system. It actually requires a lot of work to obtain points, and it is very, very time consuming. The points you spend in one passive also have less of a value the more you spend in it, meaning that there will not be a huge power difference between players. There will obviously be an advantage to those who have spent more time in the game, but nothing that completely seperates players with different amounts of champion points.

The current system that is getting pushed allows players to have long term progression and actually work towards something. Also due to the diminishing returns and the way CP is getting pushed it allows for shenanigans in the long term
Anyways I would personally like having something to do instead of sitting in rawl'kha all day
By the time you invest 100 points into a constellation, you will get bonuses of 25% increase to many basic stats, buffs to health, magicka, stamina, armor, dmg, on and on. As well as perk type things like getting ore from nodes faster. But most of the bonuses you really need to play will already have popped by the time you put in only 30 points into one constellation. The more points you throw into any one given attribute, the percentage increases of that attribute get slower, meaning you get diminishing returns. That is how it is working now on PTS anyway.
This being said, do not think for a minute that current VR14 players already starting with 70 points to spend are not getting a signficant boost compared to fresh VR1s, or that there will not be many single mindedly focused on grinding their way up the ladder of points as quickly as possible to the get to the top of the top. That is just the way these things go. Take a read through what we have been posting on PTS about the system so far and you can learn a lot more about it, than over here in general discussion.
I have no doubt that in time, the 3600 total possible will not be the cap on the system.
Now... where did I leave that LOL suit, dangit? flame away folks

Thanks for the well thought out response Soulshine. So from your perspective you don't think that new players will be turned off by the system a few years from now? You said that 70 points is a big bonus compared to zero points right? I would agree that is an advantage as well (I have a VR 12 char, and will probably reach max 70 or close to it before patch releases). What is the advantage as 300 to 400? I have read that it is quite significant. I don't that is a good way to help the new players entering into the game. It will take too long for the players to close the gap. They will be more likely to quit. I also like the fact that if we have fewer points in the system that the system becomes more about choice over grinding.
Choice over grinding is what I hope people think about when it comes to the CP system. Would also help new players entering into the game in the next few years and beyond.
Thanks again for the post Soulshine!

Well, I do think that there is going to be a fair amount of problems from power gaps getting so large. I have posted many reasons for this in another thread here, in which of course I was promptly dispatched with LOLs, hehe.
As far as points, they would really need to ramp up the difficulty of everything way more for a fair assessment since current testing on PTS is not balanced for a 300 point Champion (let alone the 3600 points they let us have right now for testing purposes), but it is easy to see how uber your stats can get with just 300. Itemization, removal of the VR system -- if ever --- will also play big variables into all of this.
I would encourage you to download and check it out on the PTS if you can.
