So it will be 2-3 months after console release before the crap really hits the fan so to speak. Then zos will react and attempt to finally remove them. Now consider the announcements and development time. So that puts us at late 2015 or early 2016 before they are removed. Just my prediction.

Why not just remove them now. Clearly the forums are questioning why they are still around

Because current forum is a forum of PC players and they have changed their focus towards console players. Even Sage the leech will play ESO on console.
Devs confirm Vet levels here to stay (until sometime after console release)
@NewBlacksmurf You keep saying "just remove them"... it's not simple, by any means, to do it. They can barely release an incremental patch that doesn't break the game, let alone one that changes major game systems. You will see Vet ranks until September, at the least... bank on it.

Unless... of course, it doesn't come. Their buyout doesn't bode well for your escape route...
Everquest Next is beginning to look REAL good now that I have just read this.
Lawl. It might look like nothing soon.
Daybreak is looking at that console dream too...

Rolf.. yeah. No sane company looking for investors would ever lie and say they were going to continue production on a product that is loosing money.

This lot is not getting another penny out of me or the wife, we both had 2 x 6 months subs which we both cancelled and now we are just waiting for the beta of EQ Next to see if they are really going to deliver a sandbox game like they promised, if they do that then this game is so dead for me you would not belive it and I and the wife were real hardcore fans of this game, but too much lying (yes the devs listen to the players my aunt Fanny) and not going back on promises have killed it for us.

I'm beginning to feel similarly. And it is really very sad, because this game has so much potential it just seems that it's continually being crippled by extremely poor developmental decisions. At times they make a move in the right direction, but it's just one step here and there, when what's needed are great strides to get back on the right path. A path I think ZOS themselves have lost sight of.
Experienced or not, the development team is really making some amazing amateurish mistakes, and what's worse; they don't seem to be learning from them.
What Vanguard: Saga of Heroes did for Brad McQuaid's career, Elder Scrolls Online will do for Paul Sage's and Co's career if they continue with this haphazard approach.

Maybe this is the reason for the layoffs. Like I said new blood. They arent just going to cancel something they have not just spent all this money on but have paying customers for already.

Wait.. you guys did click the link and see we are talking about layoff on Everquest Two, right? Not ESO?
(Edit: And now.. I have to change mine too, as its talking about EQ2, not Next.)
