It seems early. Seems like there are still many things to iron out. But it just occurred to me... why do maint on a version that is going to be gone in a week or two?

Thoughts?

EDIT: Ok, well maint is over, so we can scratch this discussion :P

    It's not going live today. They just updated the PTS last week.

    I would love for it to go live today, but I highly doubt it. Late February at the earliest.

    I hope we're getting some kind of patch today, maintenance has been going for over 2 hours so far.

    Periodic maintenance is necessary on servers to clean up memory fragmentation, left over file handles, disk errors, and all the other crap that happens in the background on long-running applications that we never see or witness as users and abusers.

    Late Feb or early March - they said it would be up before 17 March - probably with enough time to add a patch or two more in to fix any unexpected issues before the invasion.

    I doubt it. But I shuffled my mules' inventories yesterday so if it does go live, and the horse inventory bug isn't actually fixed, I won't be caught by it.

    They said that they're going to do another character copy for NA on PTS first. I think it was in a response to a PTS question.

    They happily went over a month with no maintenance during the holidays. That was when people were home on vacation and putting even more stress on the servers.

    I admit skepticism.

    Lets see.....
    Compare:
    1.) The number of people who posted about reporting bugs in previous PTS versions and then noted that all the bugs were still in the live version,
    to
    2.) The number of people who posted about reporting bugs in previous PTS versions and then noted that the bugs had been fixed.

    I'm going with:
    It doesn't matter whether they put it on the PTS for an hour or a month, it's still the same buggy software that ends up getting released live.

    Might as well release it now, the only difference between now and later is that fewer people will have quit the game between now and the next few hours than will have quit between now and mid-March.

    The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.
