Question about Backlash

So I'm testing a mage like build for my Temp and working on the DPS setup.

My question is: Is Backlash a viable option for a DPS build? Thinking Trials, Dungeons, etc.

I tested it on mobs but only got to work 1 time before the mob dies. Have anyone tried it in longer fights?

I imagine with a good gear the explosion crit would hit about 15k (?)

Still only most useful in single-target fights.
There is no cast time on Backlash in 1.6 but still would not cast on more than one enemy at a time. Should pair great with crushing shock spam or Radiant Destruction when fighting a world boss, quest boss, or wisp mother.

Is Backlash even allowed to crit above its damage ceiling?

I am no Templar and don't know the numbers (so correct me please)
But Backlash has a cap of a bit over 10 000 damage and explodes after 6 seconds ? So it basically increases your DPS by over 1600, which is reasonable.

I forgot what the cap is on PTS, but on live, mine caps around 1.9k. It also provides group utility via the heal or damage buff (not much, but every bit counts, right?).

backlash does not crit higher than the tooltip max dmg value, the healing pool is ridiculously small so nobody will get that one, (most bosses hitbox is way larger than the pool) as for its usefullness: Can you do more dmg by using another skill? if no then yes its usefull for you.

I currently have some problems getting it on my bar since there are more important skills

tbh as far as the magicka morph goes I think its something to provide healers with some dps, dont know about the stamina morph yet
