This community as always been more civil and mature than most games imo. There has always been debate, sometimes insults, and occasional hatred. At times, it even seemed hostile. But it's always been better than the average game. I believe that is because the average TESO player was a responsible adult with a job.
That is about to change.
Get ready for a new crowd to move in. It's not going to be as bad as F2P, but it's still going to change. You are going to start seeing alot more nerd-raging 11 year olds freaking out because they got destroyed in PvP. You are going to see more people with no respect. You are going to see more people that want/expect hand outs. The overall maturity level of this community is about to drop a few notches.
I have already seen plenty of posts from new/returning accounts saying things like "good riddance" or "don't let the door hit you on the way out". I won't lay a blanket label on every new/returning player. There are plenty of people that are students or people that have low income jobs that simply can't afford a sub. But the law of averages shows us time and time again what type of player base free games have compared to subs.
To those people in the past that have complained about this community being toxic: Best buckle up, because it's about to get much worse. I'm not even including those of us that are upset about this change. That will pass and fade away eventually as more and more responsible adults leave this cash shop money grab behind like so many other greed machines labeled as an "MMO". And when the dust settles, you will look back on the first year of ESO with nostalgia.
