When will this forum be again about the gameplay?
"I still do not understand why I followed the advice of Captain Rana to bring the villagers of Bleakrock into safety. We should have fought for our village and not have backed down, with our tail between our legs. Now my home village is in shambles, the houses burning, the invaders feasting.I swear every day to Shor that after Molag Bal has been defeated, I will hunt down the invaders and restore peace in Bleakrock and drink my mead with my friends at the market place".PC-EU

If it were only on PC, I'd say within a year. But since it's on console, I don't see it going F2P at all. Maybe copies will go down to 10$ or less eventually, but never completely free. Can you imagine Microsoft or Sony giving it away for free? They're not that generous :disagree:
They'll never give away free physical copies.

Sony and Microsoft get a precentage off cash shops as well.

So F2P is coming with P2W items in shop.

    Never say never ^^

It's possible this will be done after being for a while in the saturation phase, just to get a fresh influx of players. Maybe the game price will be lowered substantially instead. Not auomatically a bad thing but either way I hope it's something at least 4-5 years in the future.

Look at the Warhammer online webpage...Do you think ESO can make 5 years before close?

Once you go B2P there is no need for F2P. Because B2P offers the middle-ground between F2P and P2P. While still being affordable to potential consumers.

Going F2P from B2P is moronic and not really needed. If a game needs more players then create a Recruit-A-Friend program with rewards and create Trials. ESO does not have a Recruit-A-Friend or Trial program which is creating a major wall that potential consumers have to overcome, most consumers will be discouraged and quit before trying. So I am hoping ZOS fixes that problem by implementing a Recruit-A-Friend and Trial program for ESO.

Hmmm thought it already is f2p with just a small paywall up front to cover the "f" with a "b".... Anyway,my answer is probably never, can't get any worse than that :)

Microsoft gives me "free" games every month with my Xbox live sub.

This game is going free to play now; I don't think the distinction of buying a copy of the game (most likely at a deeply discounted price) makes any difference. The B2P illusion is just important to people who don't want to think about themselves as already being in a game that's free to play.

Do they offer the same game free year round, every year? (Don't have Xbox Live, seriously asking)

If a similar poll would have been posted a couple weeks back, I would have said never for b2p and f2p.
Seeing how b2p wasn't supposed to happen, yet is coming ,there is literaly no reason to believe f2p won't happen too.

I'd argue that b2p is f2p in disguise, a variant where you pay for the right to use the shop.

Anyway, once they'll have done their b2p cash grab on console and box sales reduce, they'll most likely switch to f2p to cover all type of players.
First early adopters with imperial edition and sub, then those that wouldn't pay a sub but would pay $60 to try a game and finally those that would be okay paying for a couple DLCs but not a box price.

F2P and B2P usually have the difference in how the store is handled and what is in the store. B2P tends to be convenience and cosmetic.

Call me crazy, but... if I have to pay for something, then it's not free.
Insane, I know, such a radical and unorthodox way of viewing things... guess I'll go turn myself into an insane asylum for saying free = not having to pay anything.
Yeah, it's a distinction. So's the distinction between H20 and H202;one will kill you, one you can't live without :disagree:
The lengths people go to to convince themselves that 15$ a month or not is such a huge difference....

"it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days." - Matt Firor

What happens when box sales dry up? Expansion comes out and all the sudden new players can download the client free and play. Its inevitable.

I am going to be optimistic and say "never"

I also want people to stop complaining about it. This has got to be the(not exaggerating) hundredth thread I have seen complaining about the model change.

We get it, you don't like it, big whoop.

Lets talk about actual gameplay plz:)

It will never be f2p because of consoles.

    /thread dumb poll
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.
