Can't get past "logging in" splash screen

I have a new Alienware 13" laptop, newest drivers, just installed game and it just goes to the logging in splash screen with the three dragons chasing their tails circle thing in the lower right. Well, the music also skips. The reason I left elderscrolls initially was because of bugs in the gameplay, now I can't even get that far........

Hey there @galelf,

Can you please let us know exactly where you're getting hung up? Are you able to reach the actual loading screen, or are you stuck on Requesting Login?

If you hit the actual loading screen and you haven't played in awhile, give it about 10 minutes on that screen to reach the character selection. If an extended wait doesn't help, please ensure that you remove any add ons from your documents folder as they may be out of date.

If it's hanging up at requesting login and never makes it to the loading screen, please let us know!

the mac launcher is not working right for me today it starts and takes forever to display the news and then does not display the play button

also the announcement pop up that is seen in the windows launcher about todays announcement is not shown.

for a while when quiting out of the game the launcher has not been able to display the news don't know it that is part of the problem

so anyone's seen this how do we get the play button back

it was fine on tuesday night and yes I have restarted the computer

ok looks like a corrupted launcher I got a fresh one and although i get the could not load news msg in the launcher when I quit the game the play button is back and the news shows up promptly when the launcher is opened

Yep the launcher seems to be a bit subject to corruption and I am on OS X. Yosemite 10.10.3

Gotcha, thanks for letting us know @Windshadow_ESO!

We have had some errors with 4k and 5k resolution Mac computers running on OSX Yosemite. We have found a workaround for this issue though, and we'll go ahead and leave those steps in a spoiler tag below.

Due to a conflict with the newer 4K and 5K monitor resolutions, a Java error can sometimes prevent The Elder Scrolls Online from installing properly. To resolve this, please try the following steps:
•Go into System Preferences and choose Displays.
•While holding down the [Option/Alt] key on the keyboard, click Scaled. This will display all available screen resolutions.
•Select 5120x2880 as the resolution. This will make things look a bit odd temporarily, but it will allow installation of the launcher.
•Once the launcher is open, switch the resolution back to normal.

This process circumvents any upscaling to avoid the Java error that causes the installation to fail. Players who continue to experience issues should contact Customer Support so that we can assist further: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/ask.

the 5k iMac has been fine i used 2048x1142 for the install and i had no problems going back to full res after the install

But the launcher corruption has been on my old mid 2009 mac book pro also running Yosemite but the old machine is running the betas of 10.10.2 i can provide the release number from the office tomorrow...

since the latest beta it keeps corrupting the launcher as outlined above i have taken to just launching the eso app and bypassing the launcher for now...

when there is an update i will put it on 128 gig thumb drive from this 5k iMac and sneaker net it to the MacBook Pro i can fit all three versions us eu and pts on the thumb drive tight fit but it does work

i expect there is something in the current beta of OS X 10.10.2 that is the problem and the mid 2009 MacBook Pro is about as old a mac as the new os will run on... my 2006 Mac Pro can go no higher than 10.7.5 and even with the ati4680 video card its marginal for eso... i have not run it on that machine since i got the 5k iMac last fall

Not seeing the id for this beta for OS X 10.10.2 but it was received from apple on the 21st last week
