I'll sum up what we've paid for over the past year:

1. Game-breaking bugs. The game launched with so many broken quests many of us couldn't progress for weeks (even months in some cases). We saw these bugs during the Beta, screamed and yelled that the game could not launch with so many broken quests, and it did anyway. Remember, you were a paying customer while ZOS took the time to work these out; they didn't fix them before launch. You were paying $15 a month for quests that were KNOWN to be broken during the Beta. The game launched with KNOWN broken quests, and you got charged while they fixed them.

2. Lackluster UI design. Guild functionality, guild stores, group-finder tool, etc. All of these are woefully lacking to the point of being broken (group finder is universally despised). One year in and UI is pitiful.

3. Poor game performance. If you PvP you know this too well. Cyrodiil is in a perpetual state of lag and crashes and boots. This has been the case since Day 1 despite literally every set of patch notes claiming to have "fixed" performance in Cyrodiil.

4. Craglorn. That's it. That's the "content" you got for an entire year's subscription. One new zone, a couple of mini raids, oh and some veteran modes of dungeons sprinkled in. One. Year's. Content.

5. Dyes and guild tabards. Oh yay!

That's it. That's what your entire year's subscription got you. If you had fun while playing, great, I am genuinely happy for you. But that doesn't excuse the lack of REAL content that was given while the Developers were putting our cash toward developing content that would be B2P.

Short answer is DKs likely won't be seeing a ton of changes before we go live; this class is still quite powerful (as it should be being a tank), even after some of the adjustments we've made to other classes and abilities.

I have no idea how any of the devs could feel good about themselves after this change. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing my child was going to be ***, defiled, and beaten. Sold behind my back.

I continued to subscribe because I thought the game was headed in the right direction. They lied, I was fooled, whatever. Unsubbed and uninstalled.

I'm assuming that the OP and fellow critics have done the same as me, and paid during the last year in order to play a game they were enjoying. I can't imagine why they would have been paying all that time otherwise, as if at any time they felt they weren't getting value for money then doubtless they would have cancelled.

Im sure OPEN enjoyed playing the game. I think the point he is making is that zoos seems to have lied to all of us about their intentions and where the resources were going. I can't believe that content and bug fixes to the live game were not delayed in order to work on the cash shop and the buy to play transition.

Yes I did enjoy my time in the game, but like others have stated I just feel a little lied to. First they advertised this game as the AvA was their premier endgame. I find it hard to believe anyone who played AvA extensively will argue with me that they have abandoned that idea. Second they clearly said this game would not go F2P and they couldn't even hold true for a year?

I will stick around and see where this goes, but I will not invest anymore financially as I just feel the trust level is not there that they are going to provide anything of quality with my funds.

Very much this. Many of us had a good time, but looked forward to better things to come (bug fixes, etc). But as was stated earlier, we helped pay the bills while they got other things in order.

I've played and enjoyed the game for hundreds and hundreds of hours over the last year. That's what my $15/month went for, and I don't regret it in the least. Very few other hobbies/activities give so much "bang for the buck".

I've enjoyed the game and I don't regret having bought it (Imperial Edition) or having had the subscription. Truly I don't. I know others feel differently, but that's where I'm at.

However, that said, to expand on something the OP mentioned: The only new content at all -- at ANY level -- during the last year has been high level group content. Craglorn, arenas and trials, and group dungeons like the CoA. Not a single blessed new thing for the solo player. No new zones, no new quest lines, not at any level high or low. (Yes, I can go to Crag with my VR-rank characters and farm the heck out of resources and hope for nirns, but that's it. Everything else requires a group.)

It has also been my experience with many, many MMOs and years of gaming that when a game moves from subscription into B2P land, it declines and rather quickly becomes no longer worth playing. (For me, anyway.) B2P is almost always followed by F2P several months or a year later at the most -- or they drop the price to something super-low like $5-10 -- and items in the cash shops inflate in utility and necessity. ("Want the bank capacity the game should've had since the beginning? For a couple hundred bucks you can max out the slots." "Buy an 8-pack of Legendary-level crafting tempers for just $20!" Stuff like that. They call it 'convenience' but it'll be way more than that.)

Once the cost-of-entry drops low enough or becomes free, there'll be a huge returning influx of gold bots and spammers, too. I guarantee it.

Anyway, ESO was fun while it lasted, truly it was, but unless something really changes my mind, I will probably be canceling my subscription renewal when it's up at the end of this month. (And I've been here since Early Access...) Not interested in paying the same amount for ESO Plus. My only mistake was in believing Zenimax/Bethesda when they said they had very good reasons to stick with a subscription model, that it would result in a game with frequent content updates and much better support than the average B2P/F2P MMO.

Now they're about to become just another average B2P/F2P MMO, and as for content updates...well, we've seen what's happened (or not happened) there. A B2P/F2P MMO is not what I want to play.

If you weren't enjoying yourself then why did you continue to pay and play for a year?

Just because the game has had and continues to have bugs doesn't mean it isn't worth money.

The fact that you payed for it and continued to play speaks for itself. If you weren't enjoying it and it wasn't worth your money I am pretty sure you would have stopped paying for it and playing it.

Unless you are an idiot... Which based on this thread is entirely plausible.

Damn didn't see that foot kick to the face coming. Thank you for allowing me to pay for the beta, at least Microsoft and others give us something for free. You know like a copy of the latest windows. So you are giving us crowns?

I have an idea how about a lifetime subscription to the ESO Plus member! That seems only fair, you know for the one's that has been subbed from day 1!

Because Diablo 3 before the expansion was not one big beta test? Error 37 ring a bell? The whole craptaculair loot system?

And don't even get me started on WoW.

ESO veterans could do with a better reward for their loyalty so far, but by no means are we treated worse then blizzard customers. If I look at how much love, dedication and hard work is being put into this game.

And this is how and why Blizzard, with an outdated product, still keep millions of subs.

Because regardless how outdated, unbalanced, boring, juvenile (pandas lol), cartoonish WoW is, the company behind it is not made of buffoons.

We have been told from the start of Beta that this game would stay a subscription model. It would not change there was no plans to change it.

Yet here we are today with a model so well thought out it can be quickly implemented and seems timed to lead into the console release.

The evidence suggests we have been lied to and our subscriptions where in essence funding for the finalization of the console development.

I do not mind that the game is changing to a B2P or even a F2P model. I do mind the bait and switch that Zen has performed on us. This reflects poorly on them as developers and on Bethesda as the parent company.

I do not trust a company that lies about it's plans and intentions to do anything good for the game going forward. Anyone staying with this game now is playing craps on quality. Very sad considering until this announcement I truly believed Zen cared and would word hard to give us a great product.

You get one chance and if you lie to me my money and efforts go elsewhere.
