I'm sorry to all the people I didn't believe about the change in business model. Even if I didn't say so on the the forums, I still thought you all were stone cold f**k nuts. I can't speak for all of the other zos defenders, but I was wrong, you all were right.

    Don't apologize to them.

No one here was "seeing the writing on the wall". The same people had been saying the game was going free-to-play (it still isn't) since launch. The fact that they happened to be right this time is not an indication of their superior reasoning. They just got lucky.

To make a somewhat related analogy: if I were to say at the beginning of every morning, "Today is the day I die," I'd eventually be right. Does that mean I'm seeing the future?

Guess I owe an apology as well. I even told my friends that this game wouldn't be going F2P (F2P, B2P... who cares? Same crap, one costs a little more). I truly believed that. I was waiting for ZOS to come out with a deadset look into the eyes of a camera and say that this game was remaining subscription based.

Man, I really don't want to trust another company again.

Thanks. More or less the se happened when the game was released. A lot of things were said about mistakes and wrong paths the game was following and we were all trolls.

Poor analogy. Death is inevitable - changes in business model are not.

Dead Horse is called ESO B2P and Cash upfront for new zones... You keep playing the ESO content until 1.6 for free when you bought a copy. I am not exactly happy with this. And also... appologies to some of the people who have been right. Although... I have to say it sounds not THAT grim.

They still do THEIR thing. Not just jumping onto the Bandwaggon of paywalls and F2P/P2Win stuff.

Not so much even about luck. These days if you go to the forums of any new mmo with a subscription and start saying it is going to go f2p, odds are excellent you will be correct.

Good god, dude... give it up.

That is a fantastically inaccurate analogy.

But, there is no need for apology... ZOS has been playing its customer base for a good long time... we'll see what the console sales do, and if their monetization model works.

Neveranine dude... stop it. Is you who is beating a dead horse. We were never beating a dead horse as you can see.

The apology came from a good person that maybe feels bad because he was thinking many people were trolls and they were just normal people expressing their opinions. I understand the guy. Never happened to you? To me,yes.

And I would have been lucky if I had been wrong. Now i dont feel lucky.

And, as usual, he won't admit he was wrong, even when presented with evidence. I just ignore him any more. Well... except this time, that was too easy.

    ...

Not true AT ALL for everyone.

I didn't say it was coming until AFTER the 6 month subs were pulled. Before that I was a very staunch defender that F2P would not happen against all the trolls making the claims with nothing to back it up.

I just evaluated recent developments with the probable console launch in 6 months or so, and I changed my opinion. I clearly saw the writing on the wall.

    So...

    Apology accepted.

It wasn't a dead horse because it was not an issue. I posted plenty right after the 6 month sub was nixed. It was a dead horse because of thousands of posts that were nothing but speculation for weeks afterward. All the talk changed nothing. Until ZOS announcement, there was little point to endlessly posting in the issue, thus: beating a dead horse. Not surprised by this announcement, the silence from ZOS was deafening.

The dead horse stuff was more annoying than the threads. The same, tired old graphics over and over and over, trying to stifle conversations they could just have stayed out of.

You may be right, but I felt the need to apologize. I know they're not actual prognosticators/psychics lol. Maybe they did 'just get lucky' or maybe they (like some of them said) they've been through this type of transition before and saw some signs. At any rate I felt I owed a part of the community an apology for not believing them, that's all.

I also realize it's technically not F2P and that we are not on a highway to hell, because I went through this SWTOR. The shop sells nothing but aesthetics and there is still the option for subs, so all in all, not an E.L.E.

Short answer is DKs likely won't be seeing a ton of changes before we go live; this class is still quite powerful (as it should be being a tank), even after some of the adjustments we've made to other classes and abilities.

6 month sub cancellation... boxes being recalled from some stores... same with time cards... console launch imminent rumors... all of the gaming media believing something was up... deafening silence from ZOS... my prediction that B2P would be announced around the time of PAX south (starts Friday)...

Yeah, I was just rumor mongering, I deserved all of those dead horse gifs and comments about how illogical I was being and how ZOS does not comment on rumors :)

I think this is because (I can't remember when or where) there was an article a while back about how all mmos will be F2P/B2P in the future because the sub model is old hat and majority of people don't want it. (according to the article)

The most annoying thing was those dead horse graphics. They added nothing and lost their humor fast.

I don't blame people for having defended ESO or the people that kept bringing up their f2p/b2p concerns.

I tried to remain neutral on the forums, but the most telling thing in this ordeal was the lack of ZoS moderator response. Even so, I admire the faith people had that the lack of response was them above dignifying the ordeal with response.

I think the game can still be a good one, and sort of think it's nice there will be subscription areas. They can hook people in after an initial payment and then the person can level up at their pace without feeling guilty about maybe not playing as much some months for a sub (my reason against sub is if you play ten hours for a month, it wasn't worth it), but then when ready you can pay for a month to take on new content.

It certainly seems that way. ESO was kinda my last for a good p2p mmorpg. I can't find anything that looks interesting and new that's p2p.

It is entirely feasible for a game to exist with a sub model IMO, but that game would have to offer a level of service and quality of content WAY over what ZOS offered with ESO.

The thing was a total shambles at launch, did recover somewhat, but never reached the levels of quality content and support of even a decent F2P game.

I would still pay a sub for a game, but such a game needs to give value way over what ESO did.
