A small request. Practice Dummy and/or DPS Meter

I can not think of a single addition to the core game that would be as wholly negative to the community as adding a DPS metre.

How is this a question anymore?

DPS meters are the only way to tell if your DPS are doing their job, correctly.

You wouldn't play with a healer that isn't healing enough
You would kick a tank that wasn't taking good enough.
Why oh why would you want to play with DPS that are not dealing enough DPS?

If there were no enrage mechanics and it didn't/doesn't matter if the fight takes 3 minutes or 9 then fine, no meter needed. But the moment that DPS becomes a determination factor for success, of course we need to know if the DPS being done is enough! But unlike a tank or healer there is not one person to look to there are many, so to narrow down where a potential problem exists you need DPS meters.

    1) Bad healing = people die.

    2) Bad tanking = boss runs amok

    3) Bad DPS = hit enrage timer (soft or hard)

Why do we need a DPS meter for scenario 3, but not for first two?

We're able to troubleshoot #1 and #2 without a meter, why not #3?

You can fix that by giving the dummies a status.effect that damages health over time to a specific amount (say 50%) so you could heal it and test out your hps.

If you want to find a dummy to practice your rotation on, just go to Cyrodiil.

    :D
Bhahaha you will be lucky to find a 1v1 match in cyrodiil its mostly zergs, i wish they could implement a 1v1 tho

    I explained that.

If the tank is failing then the aggro goes everywhere and people die to aggro. We can see that happen.

If the healer is failing then health bars are going down too quickly and people die. We can see that happen.

If the DPS is failing then the enrage timer is hit and the boss kills everyone. We saw the enrage timer but we cannot tell which DPS is the problem, it could be 1 or all 3 DPS that are failing. But there is no possible way to tell unless you see one person simply light attacking. Clearly you can tell there.

However If one person is pulling 700DPS while the other two are pulling 1100DPS, but you need an average of 3000 total DPS to down a boss before enrage then a meter is the only way to tell what the problem is and where. Only then can a team address that problem.

I know some people may just kick the low DPS but many will also give a simple tip to increase their DPS by 100, or perhaps a DPS can swap to a spec where they pull 1250 DPS instead of the one they are using to level a skill. Maybe the healer puts a party buff on that will increase DPS.

The point is that without meters it is almost impossible to tell where DPS is having problems. DPS is now as important as tanking and healing because when it fails (on enrage fights) the party wipes.
