Watching your large group and their tactics not only were you guys completely and totally predictable

It's so ignorant to call this group predictable, yet you're in a cookie cutter build guild... maybe you were just trolling, in that case, well played.

Why is cookie cutter bad if you're having fun and being effective.

Their group didnt have the skill in combat their guild did. Subs comment was #realtalk for them to step it up.

Who said cookie cutter is bad?
I was relating how hypocritical it was to call Deltia's whole guild predictable, when in fact, it's his guild.

    But yes, real talk.

Sorry i took your statement about cookie cutter toward sub the wrong way friend :)

Great discussion here and I'd like to chime in. Basically, I got to eat a heaping of humble pie. My original assessment of getting Emperor was nothing more than time spent rather than skill and coordination. So to Suru's point, I did have a crappy attitude that resulted in a beat down. But with all things, it was a learning experience and I've really enjoyed PvP since.

Additionally, I underestimated my knowledge on siegeing and tactics for large scale battles. And thinking that I could rally a group of 10 that maybe are newer to PvP and stomp everyone was another miss. I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong and fail epic'ly. This was one of those times.

As far as trash talking, people honestly treated me pretty good. I don't blame people for trying to destroy me, that's what PvP is. I want to be so good, have such a good team, that when I stream I BEG you to watch so I can farm you. I'm so far away from that point but something to work towards.

Until then, I'll get my spoon out, eat some humble pie and continue to learn.

So basically schedule your life (what life?) around a video game. I will never understand competitive PvPers... I'm not criticizing, it just seems so weird for me.

I have a job, fiance, pets and 3 kids between the 2 of us. Of course 2 of those are grown up at this point, but never the less; I have a pretty full schedule and empor would be a pretty far fetched goal for me. But if the fiance would be heading out of town or something, and I could take time off of work and was confident that my character was in good shape to make a run, I would take the time off and give it a shot.

A lot of ifs, but man would it be an experience just in the journey to try. Was kind of neat reading the OP lay it out what they tried and failed from the perspective of the experience. Not to mention lessons learned as former emporers have offered their input in this thread.

Unfortunately, when you introduce a leaderboard that's just how it works.

The people that dedicate all of their time playing not only rack up more points, but they also get better. If they are talented, they get WAY BETTER.

Michael Jordan didn't just show up to a Bulls practice one day and say "Hey, you need to put me on the team. Then we are going to win a bunch of championships." He had to dedicate his life pretty early on to basketball. THAT is why he was as good as he is, and the guy who occasionally shoots hoops a couple of times a month isn't in the NBA. Plus, MJ had tons of talent on top of that dedication...

Just look at Korean Starcraft players. Do you think that someone who plays Starcraft casually is going to beat a guy who does nothing but play Starcraft? Nope, not gunna happen. Sorry!

You might not think scheduling your life around an video game is legit. But for some people, they CAN and they do, and some of them get really good and that's why they are at the top of the boards. It's not for you to judge :)

Personally, I'm one of the people with kids and responsibilities. I'll never get emp. I'm just happy I hit 200 on the leaderboard. That's just how it is and I'm fine with that.

    Edit: Clarity.

Pretty much this. I heard about deltia planning this, and he had an overall cocky attitude(i like the dude, amd respect him and like him more than ever) thinking he could do it by prepping, playing all day and taking tips as mentioned above. Well, I kinda just sat back and scoffed, he's in for a reality check soon, which he got. He did better than I expected first few days before it got outta hand.

That's okay. I was in an AD guild (will not name) that thought they'd just all swap to Haed for a week and all get emperor. There are members on this guild that easily play 16 hours per day... some of them will go on 5 day binges with just a couple of hours sleep each night.

They ended up getting schooled for the first whole day, and realizing that they couldn't just walk into Haed and get crowned, ran back to Thornblade.

It didn't take me too long running with other groups to realize that a lot of the problem was that guild's leadership and tactics. Or lack thereof...

POINT BEING: Just playing a lot won't guarantee you anything. Honestly, when campaigns reset, the people who were on top the last round will have more AP in one day than 99% of the people in the campaign will get all month. That's because they understand how farming AP works, but they also understand the tactics and strategies of AvA PvP and run with a VERY solid group.

Sorry to rain on anyones parade, but it just isn't going to happen running around with a pug crew who can't follow directions and doesn't understand bigger strategies, let alone how to play their own class well.
