[BUG] no bugs...as in no dusk beetles dropping in level one area NA/AD

The dusk beetles have left Tamriel.
I have looted every container, barrel, crate and dresser in Vulkhel Guard and Sky Watch (just now). The little critters have left without regard to our feelings, having not said so much as one good bye. While I want to pull their feelers off and make Meat Muscat with them I never told them such.
So they shouldn't be wary right?
I firmly believe there is a nefarious plot which has allied them with the missing torch bugs from Cyrodiil. Both have absconded for greener pastures (perhaps the south of france) and left my provisioner beetle-less and singing " Hey xxxx, don't make it bad , Take a sad song and make it better".
Please help.

Yea, can't remember last time I've seen a dusk beetle.
Guess I'll have to find something else to get that crunch with my yogurt.

    Hey there @SLy_Kyti,

Dusk beetles might be a bit more shy towards characters of intimidatingly high levels, especially veteran ranked folks.

Perhaps a newer adventurer in the Aldmeri Dominion would have more luck searching around Vulkhel Guard for these delicacies. They also keep well in the bank ;).

I actually sent my lowbie mulish Alt " Earnie from Accounting " to search for the creature's. He is level 4. Not vet 4. He is trying desperately to learn to cook so he can impress Elaine in the mailroom. He would get a hirling to source tasty ingredients if his skill was high enough but alas the beetles have proven elusive to him. As has Elaine's notice.
Perhaps you can help Earnie find some beetles for his meat muscat recipe ( he only knows a few things other than asset management) and clear up the mystery.

By the way, I undersand some deer have been spotted in NA/AD Cyrodiil lately, some are even taking in the sights from the trees. Perhaps the beetles are in the trees too?

Note: I have sent 3 lowbies , level 3 to 6 looking for beetles in Khenarthis roost and Auridon. They can't find them, even by searching low and high.

    Just an update from Earnie...

He spent an hour tooling around Skywatch looting everything within sight. He did start to lose a smallish bit of his paunch from the efforts but gained no beetles. Nonplussed, Ernie from Accounting decided to enlist the help of his other Alt ego "She-Who-Holds-All-Things", she too is level 4 and hangs out in Vulhel Guard.
She advised Ernie that it is in fact "Dusky Claret" he was making not Meat Muscat. She also suggested that a few fava beans might go well with the Claret he was making for Elaine in the Mail room.
They each set off on their own hunt for the lost Dusk beetles, Earnie taking his instance in Sky watch and "She" taking her instance in VK. Though neither were successful in finding the beetles (perhaps hidden with Dusky Cloak) they did find lots of pork. This is leaving Earnie with a small decision. Roast Pork? or Dusky Claret....
She-Who-Holds-All-Things opined that a nice Slyphy Gin would be more likely to win Elaines affections and if not she might be less inclined to protest against his. Earnie having sworn to uphold all things mannerly and a rigorous code of conduct, dismissed this suggestion immediately.
They both await @ZOS_GaryA or @ZOS_anyone help.

p.s. Yes I shut off all add-ons and restarted my game. ad nauseum.

I see Guar eggs selling for around 170 each in Guild Kiosks (and have found/gathered zero of them either, on all my low alts)... perhaps the sellers are on to something.

    Hello @SLy_Kyti!

Do not lose hope! We sent a few of our personal warriors into the search for Dusk Beetles and we were able to come up with a few!

The character in this shot is level 42. We also had another colleague check and they were able to find Dusk Beetles in Vulkhel Guard while their character was level 9.

Perhaps Earnie needs to gain a level or two in order to join the hunt for the mysterious Dusk Beetle. The additional strength should also help with his quest for Elaine as well, assuming her interest is not with others at this point. Best of luck!

I have an idea.... Why don't you just tell us what level you have to be in order for them to start showing up?
Oh, and maybe you could tell us what level they stop showing up?
Or do they only show up in certain locations regardless of your level?

First you say she's too high a level to get them assuming she was doing this on a VR character and should try on a 'newer adventurer'.

She has already stated she has been searching on characters levels 3-6. It's an ingredient for a level 5 food item after all.

Then you come back and say some level 42 and a level 9 found them and she should level up.

Crafting in this game is bad to begin with. But Provisioning and getting the ingredients/recipes to do so has been nothing but a half-assed random grab of a profession since closed beta at the least. So, maybe all you fine folks at ESO could just give us the simple facts to some of these questions right off the bat when asked. Or do you not know your own game well enough to do so.

Personally, I think it's the least you could do for anyone who took the time to try and at least entertain you in their report.
