But... I like TES. I might stay even if ESO went FtP, but the expectable changes in the player base would very likely make me stop considering it my favorite game anymore, switch to free play, and wander off sometime when I find something better.
This game won't go F2P, I can tell you that much. They've put too much into it to go completely FREE. B2P, _maybe_. I'll say this, I agree that subscription models give the developer stable income to continue to develop content at a regular pace. However, I've also seen some games that have subscriptions that don't provide that content, and B2P/F2P games that do. I guess it all depends on the developer.
I want to say this about ESO going B2P. IF they do it, I hope they don't do it just because they want to release on Xbox and they're afraid people won't play it because they have to pay a sub plus Xbox Live. I'd much rather them do what FFXIV did and release on PS4, then not only can they keep their sub, but they can also have PC and PS4 players play together without worrying about Microsoft's restrictions. Because I think if either console will not be able to play with PC, the game is going to wind up being very dead on those systems. Besides, PS4 is more popular than Xbox anyways.

There are two questions I would need to know the answers to before I could decide.
Firstly will it cost me more money overall than before?
Secondly will it in any way interfere with my gameplay or immersion or create any kind of pay to win situation?
The second is more important than the first - if the game itself changes in a way that makes it less enjoyable then that is what would make me reconsider.
A source at another Australian retail franchise, Harvey Norman, told the publication that that “all game cards and copies were pulled out of Harvey Norman, and the ONLY reason that would happen is because it has become a free product”. The source added they had seen the clearout’s paperwork confirmation and that “if it was being brought out in a different format, it’d have a price drop, not a recall."
