Maintenance for the week of April 6:

What is the one major thing that is missing in ESO.

And that is... Casting magick without any weapon equipped, a bare handed mage who uses wards to shield themselves, fiert spray from fingers to do close quarters combat..

A mage who has no needs for weapons, can exel in any school of magick.. Can do necromancy, summoning the daedra, altering the enviroment, using illusions to control enemies.

A traditional TES mage who has no need for weapon, maybe sword in other hand while casting with other..

I really think that they should correct this.. They need to add traditional schools of magick as a separate skill liunes that are available to all classes (Though id prefer classes be removed completely) and most importantly... These skill lines have magick that you can equip on the hands like weapons or have spellcrafting as addition to craft spells that one can equip in both or either hand if player so wishes.

By equippable spells i do not mean something you place in your action bar but in your hands.

EDIT: Corrected the title.

    The traditional schools of magic have been announced as planned inclusions to the Spellcrafting system.

    Do not think that they will make them equipped in the weapon slots though; they will probably simply have them be put on the action bar.

    Prefer the action bar for casting spells anyway personally. Oblivion let me cast spells with any type of weapon equipped, including a sword in one hand and a shield in the other; was not entirely pleased with Skyrim's gimping of that.

    I liked the Skyrim version where you could not use weapon in spellcasting hand but there was some characters that i also missed the cast with sword and shield option..

    Still i am hoping a Skyrim type aproach where you can either cast or have weaponn equipped.. Action bar, even while being small feels so much MMO thingy but i do understand it is needed as one cant really pause to change spells in MMO :)

    True, the closest thing to getting that is a sorceror with Overload in use. Hopeful Spellcrafting won't be some resource thirsty skill point drain for the crafting system and just a unique skill line for combat.

    Maybe introduce some Magic Focuses that can occupy the weapon slots so you can use magic bare handed? :)

    Suggested something similar for hand slots in order to give us a hand-to-hand combat line that could level up and unlock skills.
    Hasn't happened. Hand-to-hand is what I miss most from my Oblivion days. )=

    Have played ESO with no weapons equipped while punching things; have also played with no weapons equipped and spamming Class skills.

    The biggest inhibitor for hand-to-hand is that it does not work; it does not feel in line with the rest of the game due to lack of associated skills.
    The biggest inhibitor for unarmed spell casting is the loss of weapon swap and a set bonus slot, but it can still be functionally done with 5 skill slots.

    What ESO is missing the most is content, and by that I mean TES content:

    - Thieves and Dark Brotherhood guild
    - Housing
    - Imperial City
    - Spellcrafting
    - Justice System

    After they implement all of this, we can all call ESO -> Best MMO ever made :)

    As much as I would love housing. Housing is hardly a staple of TES games... In 8 games, only one ever had housing, this also goes for spell crafting. While the guilds, and a justice system has been around in every game.

    Considering all of the various things that
    one could consider as
    missing from the game, I think that
    perhaps the most major thing missing from
    eso is the sense of a
    truly open game world. The
    environments that we explore do
    not really lend themselves
    to non-linear exploration. We have to
    do each zone basically in order, or
    else we end up fighting mobs which are
    very hard-to-impossible to kill. This
    seems to be the biggest issue with the game.

    With spells or sort of lodestones that can be equipped on weapon slots, there would still be weaponswap available. You could have spells equipped in both sets or spells in other and weapons in other... Staff in other set.. Sword and spell in other set..

    With just one weapon equipped like sword and spell, there should be 1handed skill line which also seems a stuff people wish from time to time.

    This game is missing small group PVP

    There is plenty of small group PVP in this game. Join a few of friends in Cyrodiil and you can find all of the PVP you want.

    If you mean AVA instead of PVP, I've captured numerous resources with only 2-4 people in my group. A few weeks ago, I rode off to assist an assault on Drakelowe as I noticed my faction was attacking it. When I arrived, there were only two other players there and they had already captured the back flag. The three of us went on to capture the front door flag.

    There are dueling guilds which you can join if by small group PVP you actually meant something akin to the Colovian Crossing 3v3v3 demo game which ESO showcases at events and conventions.

    Spellcrafting:

    Skyrim Mod -> http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33598/?
    Oblivion -> http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Spell_Making
    Morrowind -> http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Spellmaker
    Daggerfall -> http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Spell_Maker
    Arena -> http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Magical_Effects

    Housing:

    Skyrim -> http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Houses_(Skyrim)
    Oblivion -> http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Houses
    Morrowind -> http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Houses
    Daggerfall -> http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Houses

    In Morrowind you cannot own your own house. Sometimes, the owner, or a person with the right connections, will offer a task that may give the player a place to call home upon completion. You can also kill the owner in order to get pretty much the same results.

    You were saying?

    PS: ESO is the 8th TES game:

    1. Arena
    2. Daggerfall
    3. Battlespire
    4. Redguard
    5. Morrowind
    6. Oblivion
    7. Skyrim

    I can't recall much to look at underwater in the TES games besides the occasional chest to break up the constant rocks and monotoned sea floor color. Any suggestions for me to Google an image of?

    A guildmate was bemoaning the total lack of sparring last night. Just play fights where you can't really kill each other. Not serious PvP - just one player being able to test themselves against any other - even of the same alliance.

    Apart from that this one feels that Fishmas celebrations are missing from the game somewhat along with a lot of other Khajiit centric stuff :)

    Never explored under water much, but really miss the under water boss fight that was in one of the Argonian dungeons in Cyrodiil.

    The biggest thing for me that ESO is missing, is a true warrior class. In every MMO and TES game, I've played the heavy armored two handed nord that uses no magic, focusing only on true martial warrior combat. This has always worked beautifully in TES games, and there's always a dps warrior class in MMO's. It drives me crazy that you can't do this effectively in ESO. A warrior shouldn't have to be a tank. Look at the upcoming Champ trees. Is it true that the warrior tree will consist of health and defensive stats, and no dps? Ugh

    I honestly forgot about houses in oblivion :s

    My point was that the TES games didn't all ship with housing, and even the ones that did it was never a major part of the game outside of mods. Skyrim really broke the mold with hearthfire. And While I love player housing, the first thing I think of when thinking of a TES game is not player housing, in fact it's quite low on the list.
