Maintenance for the week of May 18:
• NA megaservers for maintenance – May 18, 4:00AM EDT (8:00 UTC) - 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – May 18, 8:00 UTC (4:00AM EDT) - 13:00 UTC (9:00AM EDT)

has anyone confirmed f2p?

it will NEVER go f2p. If anything it would be b2p and that most likely would incude buying some of the new content.

F2P or B2P tends to effectively be Pay to win either way. And honestly I have purchased at launch 3 mmo's that that all went free to play within a year of launch, so it is posible.

I just don't believe that this particular game will go F2P with all the effort they are putting in on updating/modifying it. The pattern I see usually goes game launch, minimal maintenance and long lasting game breaking bugs causing extremely low population, unexpected transition to f2P, and only then do they start doing changes, bug fixes, and consistent maintenance.

As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

Actually while there is obviously no plans to make this f2p, I would not mind it at all ---> IF <--- it was made like in SW:TOR. Trust me, being f2p there was nothing to laugh about (which is why they still sold tons of subs and have a lot of them still active), since over there being f2p simply means "Yes, you can experience the story and do a very very basic amount of PvE and PvP weekly". For anything else (and this includes every single bit of comfort, like having some bank space, displaying your earned titles, even SPEAKING on the global chat more than once in a while) you had to do what? Exactly: pay a sub or pay for some of those features via the shop model.

I loved that since it allowed everyone to get a peek at the game and enjoy the (partially pretty epic) storylines but it also ensured you wouldn't find more than a few folks enjoying anything but the basic features - unless they paid and thus generated income.

That is in my opnion the single best f2p model invented so far, choking f2p-players into submission ;)

I can't wait to laugh at everyone who predicted F2P, when ESO launches on Consoles as P2P ;) Of course without the need to pay for XBox Live, or PSN :)

As soon as the game went F2P, and the tons of people with F2P entitlement started filling alliance chat, I left and took my sub money with me.
Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

The only way that paying for psn/live should bother anyone is if the *only* game or function/app they will be using is ESO. PSN plus or whatever it is might not be required for games that are free to play. Sony has already said that like DC Universe, ESO can be played without the psn plus or whatever its called. Anything else though requires it. Unless anything has changed from early last year, sony isn't charging, microsoft is.
