@ZOS - what should vet players be doing until 1.6?

On a more serious note: if your enjoyment of a game is predicated on your having a headstart over others, then you weren't really enjoying the game much.

So sick of reading these idiotic comments. You think having 14 veteran levels being wiped away without compensation to be made equal to someone who is level 50 is "even footing"? You really think getting some small ratio of the XP earned from vet levels (not 1 for 1 just some ratio up to a cap) is getting a headstart? Why don't you delete your characters at the start of 1.6 and start over so you wont have a headstart on those new players who start the game fresh when 1.6 launches. That's essentially what is being asked of vet players.

I think it might be prudent to remember that ESO is a game, not not something like an e-sport. People are too selfish. Additionally, 'levels' and character 'power' are just an illusion anyways, they always have been in MMOs. I think the sooner some people realise that the better. It doesn't matter if the level cap is level 10, 30, 50, 64, 100, it's all relative to the content and it will be balanced as such.

Personally I'm getting a little sick of the selfish comments of many posters that when distilled down are: 'I had something others didn't and I my character was better than their character, but soon ESO's going to take it away from me, and I'm not happy.'. It's the sort of talk you expect to hear in a pre-school.
If you can be anything, be kind.

Who remembers when having fun in video games was it's own reward?

I remember raiding for weeks or months for 1 drop, losing roll after roll for it. Do you think I threatened to quit my guild because I "deserved" the item? No, because I was still having fun raiding with them and I knew I'd get it eventually.

Man, you must absolutely explode every time an expansion comes out for an MMO.

When the level cap in an MMO gets moved, or when leveling systems change, everything that you "worked" so hard for becomes pretty much worthless. Welcome to gaming.

Swing and a miss! Having the level cap increased two levels is NO WHERE near the same as having 14 levels of xp wiped with no compensation. Youre not even in the same ballpark in your comparisons.

You have a head start! It's called game time experience over the new players, there is lots to learn with the new system and I'm sure you will find a way to get an edge over them quickly enough. The only v1 players that you wont have an edge over is probably a VR14 players alt.

You clearly don't understand the difference between what 1.6/1.7 is and a normal expansion. It's been explained numerous times here so I won't repeat it again but it's not the same. Figure it out.

Heh I actually left WoW about a week after Burning Crusade was released, when I began to see the stats of random green items that dropped from common mobs.

The 3rd phase of the champ system wont be nearly as bad, since nothing is taken away and all gear still retains its value.

That being said people who have wasted a non renewable resource of xp because of the October promise should be compensated somehow. For the sake of the game and the communities within the game, both of which will suffer when a lot of them leave in the next month.

There's no competitive spirit anymore. It's all "I'll sit on my ass until I'm given what I deserve" Instead of going out and getting it.

We're being handcuffed. We're being forced into the slavery that is balanced mediocrity.

Garbage ... that's just hypocritical. On one hand you posit that people are a bunch of softies .. and in the very same breath you complain that your mojo is being emasculated.

BTW, the *good old days* only look that way retrospectively and always from a position of privilege.

Now that @ZOS_GinaBruno has given additional clarity on the lack of tracking XP for vet players and the intent to not reward vet players at all for their efforts I would like to know what ZOS expects vet players to be doing for the next month or so until 1.6 goes live? If our progress doesn't count then are you suggesting we play low level alts only? What if we have no open character slots? Are you suggesting we cancel our subs temporarily? Please let us know what you expect vet players to do in a system that is going to be erased in the future with no compensation or acknowledgement of any kind.

go play pokemon if you can not keep yourself busy for *** sake. If you keep QQing just quit, nobody will miss you.

Honestly, cancelling your sub till 1.6 is actually out is very much the prudent move, if all the characters you want to play are in VR levels. Anything you do now on VR level characters is just for fun, for some that is enough though.

We all know its not well thought out at all. But it is what it is, I should think we all understand this now anyway.

I would think that those of you who refuse to play anymore because you're so angry about the changes would be downloading the PTS and creating a test plan so you're ready to test and provide thoughtful and constructive feedback that may help guide future development in a way that you feel better compensates you as soon as 1.6 hits the PTS.

But instead it seems most of you are choosing to create multiple threads of post after post upon post with rage whine stomping feet toddler temper tantrums.

silly person ,everyone of us, serious players have had the PTS downloaded for months, we have helped ZoS test every large patch thus far. We can't test 1.6 yet since it is not out (DUH!).

you couldn't be more wrong. How MMOs you see around that REMOVE levels instead of adding them? I don't see many cause if any made mistake, it didn't survive.

MMOs release NEW CONTENT that requires you to level forward. ZOS is not releasing new content, is moving characters back on the progression and forcing people to go through it all over again. And we have to level again without quest content to do. Yeah... Same thing as other MMOs.

Don't forget, a lot of us complaining, we are old timers from other games. WoW only ever made mistakes as terrible as ZoS at their start... 10 year ago. One would assume ZoS would learn from other, far better companies.

Well, but the difference here is that in an expansion *everyone* has the exact same content to chew on to move forward. That isn't the case here, which is the issue.

This is by far the most sensible post I've seen on here!

There are 1001 different things you can do in this game.... its all meant to be fun... by all means save non-repeatable quests if you want to... but to down tools and not play... that's pointless when there is still a lot of fun to be had.
