How many people are going to continue playing ESO no matter what they do?

We all have our different tastes and perspectives. Perhaps our difference in this instance is due to where we are from: you from the UK (I gather from your screen name), and me from Los Angeles, CA, USA. I'm also no spring chicken, so it could also be a generational difference.

Could easily have some bearing on it. (Interesting that the 'UK' part has some use too, as its only there because some evil being stole my name lol)

That aside, im fairly well travelled. So I understand your perspective. People differ alot on experience, which can impact heavily on approach.

Overall I dont think the intention of ESO live was ever an appeal to the boardroom. The impression I got was more: Informal friends having a discussion round a fireplace; albeit with the intention to pass on information.

Also Maria did look a bit irritated on occasion I'll conceed that point.

Maybe the problem is exactly that, just differing mediums and points of view. The ESO live style, reminds me somewhat of the Planetside 2 varient, with banter and sillyness mixed in. There is a wider audience at large than just, 'I prefer formal'. Still you've said as much yourself.

If people want a more (coining the phrase ''boardroom'' again) style, then it would be interesting to see how popular that thought is. Ideally though, I'd prefer them seperate (perhaps having different ones with different approaches) rather than a loss of either. Again; Just my view.

Loved the game so far, but I'm thinking of unsubbing until the content wiping period is over. This game simply wasn't finished when they released it. I originally didn't care as there was a few content releases and things felt fresh and new. Now that they are progression wiping it doesn't seem right to pay to have my time wasted or help them test their game indefinitely. I'd resub when they have established a solid framework to advance from.

I have this feeling like, "played the champion system and all I got was this lousy t-shirt". I'm expecting it to be overrated at this point and not going to be worth all the lost progression of my two VR characters.

There are other great new games out there to play that are truly "polished" where I don't have to lose time I put in.

I am willing to give them some time to straighten this thing out and make it into the game I thought I was signing on for. My patience is not limitless however. We are fast approaching ESO's first anniversary. They have until their second one to have:
    1. Finished creating the game they apparently "didn't have time" to make before launch. We're talking fully implemented Justice System, Champion System and Spellcrafting.
    2. Improve vampires and werewolves dramatically.
    3. Implement a robust player housing system.
    4. Give us a GOOD alternative to Cadwell's Silver and Gold.
    5. VASTLY improved character customization options post character creation. More hairstyles, more tats, scars and makeup. Name changes. Dyeable shields and weapons. Cultural CLOTHING (of various classes), whether it be crafted or via costumes/disguises but READILY AVAILABLE from vendors if the latter.
    6. FUN things like LOTS of pets that are READILY AVAILABLE to everyone, MORE emotes, race and class specific emotes, vampire and werewolf emotes, more dance and musical instrument emotes and more songs that can be played on the various instruments.
    7. Figuring out a trading system that doesn't SUCK like the current one does.
    8. Implementing more chat channels for specific things like trading and guild advertising so that quits cluttering up zone chat.
    9. Dueling. Arenas.
    10. Cross faction area and content.

So yeah, they've got just over a year to get their act together. Here's hoping they can do it...and that a better game doesn't come along in the meantime.

I couldn't agree more! ZOS should print out this list on a huge plaque and have it placed on their conference room wall with dates and deadlines.

This list is more or less EXACTLY what I, too, want from ESO.

I will click agree 3 times on your comment.

F2P or B2P means good by ESO .

Everything else - Im leaning on staying.

They would have to F up badly for me to leave permanently and not just weeks at a time.

Seeing as this is apparently developing into something of a pet peeve of mine I will refer to my thread again. It was written after episode 7, and is meant as some suggestions as to how both camps can be satisfied.
Gina Bruno (the hostess) did reference the thread in episode 8 saying something to this effect: "Someone on the forum had a thread asking "Can't you tighten up your programming?"... No! Never!".
Which is both absolutely fair, it's their show to do with as they please, but also a little weird that constructive criticism will not be taken to heart.
In the thread I did the arguments were more on keeping the show as it is, but I'm seeing more and more arguments across these boards to the contrary.
That might be because I'm sort of looking for them, but still...

Unless ZOS starts sending out rubber fists as a requirement to play... I'm staying till my friends leave and/or it's no longer fun.

If they bump everyone to lvl 50 in phase 4 without compensation then I am gone.

Um... this is happening. So either leave or stay. This won't change. Why? Because they gave all the v1's the same amount they were going to compensate us with. They aren't giving out more than 30 nor are they going to give less than 30.

The forum is an interesting place.

On the one hand, we have the people who are upset because ZOS broke a promise made in October regarding CP and XP. ZOS breaks promises.

On the other hand, we have people who are pointing to a new promise that ZOS made regarding CP and telling people to get used to it. ZOS keeps promises.

Since we live for parsing the statements that ZOS makes, allow me to parse part of what Gina said:
A few months ago, it was said that we were tracking XP. However, this was still early in development and through internal testing and feedback, found that we needed to change our plans (and, honestly, this quite normal through the course of development). We understand that this was, indeed, a major change from what we were originally planning.

I bolded the part where they get to come back in Update 6 or Update 7 and do whatever they want with Veteran Ranks and compensation to players.

Now, I don't say this to get people to hang onto a thread of hope. I say this because anything they say about future development, including the entire comment Gina made that I quoted from, is subject to change at their discretion. For better, or worse.

To state absolutely, "this is happening. So either leave or stay. This won't change" is advice that is no more valid today than the statement from October that said that XP would be tracked.

We have only a glimpse at what is actually going to be in Update 6, and even less idea what will be in Update 7, when Veteran Ranks actually go away.

    Snip.

Haha, well you know what they say; ''seek and you shall find!''

I find similar things that niggle away, although I like to think those pet frustrations are there to remind me that I wont always get my own way. That and when I do, I should jump about and be happy (well, sort of anyhow lol)

Obviously there are always going to be critics, they will listen to some and not others (no doubt because of numerical bias). Yet, I'm sure to the best they are able, Gina and the others will try and keep the spirit to it, that they initially invisioned.

Thats not always a bad thing; I mean its not exactly inspiring when devs simply cave to a few loud voices (past mmo pvp balance disasters for example) but on the whole as long as they take it on board, and not let sillyness defeat all other purpose, then I say leave them be.

Of course there will be a constant critique at the style for those who arent fans. But like me in those situations, I try and spare thought for those who do love it - and very much look forward to watching the show as a result.
