A head scratcher: guild store house cut?

I'm hoping that someone can help me understand where I'm going wrong...or if this is just a grossly overlooked bug in the game.

Whenever I list an item for sale in a guild store, I see the following tooltip by house cut:

So, doing a little simple math, if I sell an item for 1000g then the guild would see a cut of 70g according to the 7% outlined in the tooltip.

The item sells. Whoo-hoo! I check the guild sales list. It lists the item as having sold and I am emailed 930g (the 1000g original list price minus the 70g house cut). And yet, when you check the guild sales record it says that 35g has been collected as taxes...and the guild store only sees an increase in its bank by 35g.

Soooooo...wouldn't it be more accurate that the tooltip simply says that the guild will get only 3.5% as a house cut because that's all the guild is really seeing?

We already know the listing fee is a gold sink but is there a SECOND gold sink as well on the tail end of every transaction to the tune of an additional 3.5%?

Confused.

My understanding of it is half the guild store cut is collected by the tax man. The tool tip could be more clear. The government always gets its cut even in Tamriel. Every faction has that war in Cyrodiil to finance you know.

Out-of-game reason: It's a gold sink. It allows for there to be a relatively steady rate of gold out of the game so that rampant inflation doesn't happen. Because it's a % of the transaction, and not a flat fee, it means that more gold goes out of the system as prices go up, leading to an overall stabilizing effect.

Why the fees aren't listed separately in-game, I do not know.

Does the Guild even get that 3.5%?

Yes. Not when the game started, but I believe about the time they introduced traders, guilds started getting the money. It gets deposited into the guild bank.

I like the "every faction has that war in Cyrodiil to finance you know" point...pesky wars always costing us citizens.

But, yeah, the tooltip should be updated to reflect that 7% of the sale price will go to the guild after the Tamriel Tax Master had done his or her thing to remove half of that. Sigh.

That is what I thought, the only posts I has seen about the stores was that the entire store cut evaporated. But, all those posts were from back in April.

Guild gets 3.5%, other 3.5% is gold sink, as well as listing fee.
