To the people who are claiming that Youtube videos are the 'easiest medium for the author' I dare say that you have never attempted to make such a video.

To be done right and well presented, making videos is far more of a chore than just typing out some information.

Sure there can be slop jobs thrown together fairly quickly but the ones that are done well take editing, and that takes time and effort required far beyond the written word.

I personally think videos are a great way to hit a target audience.

If you don't like watching videos then don't watch them and... I'm not really sure why you are even bothering to post in this thread, there are a ton of written resources and that is obviously the medium for you. Which is fine, but don't knock someones idea to help this game and its people just because that's not your choice form.

I am experimenting with Shadowplay. I did some Videos. But I guess the more important thing for me would be, what information to convey?

I am a PVE player. I enjoy the landscapes. But there you have it. I could make a Mockumentation about the regions of Tamriel. But, I wouldn't know if this finds an audience. The other thing is. Most Videos are commented. I am kind of wondering what I should talk about.

The thing is. A good video needs to have a scene setup. And it needs to have a core idea around which the segment revolves. Thats not really easy to do even when you write up stuff.

Other than that, I am eager to show around what I experience ingame...

Well my two cents... I am still ambivalent about the whole thing.

There are quite a few ESO videos on net, but I mostly miss build guides. I had a lot of trouble finding some when I changed my class few months ago. The situation is slowly changing for the better as more and more videos are published.
I would prefer more guides, but even a simple dungeon run through can be valuable to watch.

I am yet to get to end game and it's difficulty, so I am slowly educating myself in dungeon mechanics. One thing I did notice is that everybody is usually bunched very close. Is this due to the healer skills or is there some other reason?

Either Youtube is filled with people who have never attempted to make a video, or a lot of people can't do it right.

Yes, there are a few amateurs out there who can pull off a professional quality video. The bulk of them are so bad that calling them amateur is insulting to amateurs.

What happened to written guides? Text with still images for illustration and clarification is fully searchable, and it's a lot quicker to take in than the spoken word.

The worst are videos that come up on searches for puzzle solutions, or the locations of quest givers, and the like. I abhor watching them as they are more about "look at me" and less about providing information.

As the originator of this thread over on Tamriel Foundry, I just wanted to give this a bump and say that I'm really happy with all the content I've been seeing lately! Keep up the good work, guys, and I'll be sure to contribute once I get my bearings ingame! Holidays and starting fresh are holding me back, but I'm excited to jump back in and get to work!
