I have been absent from the vet servers, save the occasional go on hedarus.

Are the rumors I have been hearing true?? is EP now the new AD that i have loathed and hated since Hopesfire?

They are the faction that steamrolls the maps at times the other factions have very low pops; and drive the other factions to their gates and camp there, even if they've already taken the scrolls, and runs in big bat-pulse blobs pleased with themselves for every undefended keep or 4:1 battle they win.

But it's only been that way for a few weeks. Not long enough for a Hopesfire level of loathing to take hold.

Dang. c'mon EP....... gate camping????? Are you serious?????? Have you people really become that concerned about winning over a video game?:(

sigh...... hopefully this does not last for long. I would hate to see the one competitive campaign turn into Hopesfire.

There is good people in every faction, just like there are [snip].

EP's style of play and sheer numbers is very much how AD was not long ago. That's just how it is.

It's not the entire EP faction doing this, to be sure. By most acounts these efforts are led by one guild and all the puggles they can sway. But this guild has a lot of manpower and a very effective(if spammy) playstyle against lesser numbers. The power of a red map, 6 scrolls and a 10,000 point lead on what was the most competitive campaign is seductive. We've yet to see if EP as a whole will embrace and sustain this playstyle, or push for balance.

Yes their is a faction in EP that stack spam impulse and bats, it gets old fast.

The other night I just stayed back and popped lighting flood right into the middle of them at a comfortable range. Once they started getting close or winning I would BE out, go stealth, retreat, regroup, and do it again and get kills. It got boring after about a half hour and I left to go fight with AD. For the most part, AD don't do this as much anymore, so it makes for fun fights. All factions have groups that do this, its just the largest and most common of it is in EP now.

I'm sure at some point they will get bored and come to DC...i really hope they don't...i don't want to win that way, and i won't take part in it.

Well, don't expect me to come to thornblade then. I will have no part in this pathetic and disgraceful playstyle. If that means i have to wait until the CS comes out before playing TB, so be it.

To be fair, the night they crowned Anon emporer they did stop taking keeps and didn't push to gates. They could have since they had a much higher population than AD and DC that night.
And then last night they were double teamed by AD and DC and pushed back to their gates. We'll have to see how it goes from here.

Thorn is still the most balanced vet campaign though. To play on the others you are either against overwhelming one-sided numbers protecting their buffs, or are on the overwhelming side. See standings here:

Not sure what night you were talking about but during the last patch (a few days ago). They pushed emp late at night, then grabbed ALL DC keeps and both scrolls so they could hold them uncontested through the maintenance period.

That's why there was such a multi-faction smackdown on EP the last few days. They really are bringing the wrath and ill will of both other factions down on them with these tactics.

But those are the symptoms of Monkey Spam Ebola. It's a shame that EP caught the virus. I thought we had it mainly contained in AD with only a few minor outbreaks here and there.

The night of maintenance was when they crowned Zangief and then took all of the keeps and scrolls. Two nights ago, they crowned Anonymous Elf and then just defended the keeps they had instead of pushing the other factions. Before I logged that night, AD had even gotten Roe and Alessia back.

There have been buff servers around for long enough to prove that any faction that's prepared to organise a nightcap consistently for a week or two can kill a campaign. You can blame the faction that does so. I did too, in the beginning, but really it's irrelevant who did it, just as it is irrelevant to complain that apparently people are so averse to not being on the winning side that they permit this to happen. These are facts and it means the game design allows a relatively small group of players to thrust a server into a vicious cycle. Only ZoS can fix that.

Sort of. Instead of EP getting better and training their own ranks, many of the AD guilds moved to EP; AD has few active PvP guilds now. Now EP engages in all the shenanigans that AD used to be accused of, including some more: after taking all of AD's scrolls, EP recently had a bunch of players enter the campaign on their AD characters, take back the scrolls, then switch back to EP so they can take them again. Gaming the system, pretty pathetic, goes way beyond anything AD ever did.

Yes. Can't name player names or guild names for fear of the "naming and shaming" policy (or worse), but yes: When the-guild-that-shall-not-be-named was on AD, the other AD guilds gave them a lot of shister for their play style and their general attitude. The-guild-that-shall-not-be-named got bent out of shape about it and, given all the complaining about the population imbalance and the begging for people to roll EP at that time, switched to EP. That's it in a nutshell. So here we are.

Yup. It would help if we were "account faction locked" based on the faction of the first character we enter into the campaign. Add to that the freedom to enter that first character into any faction and we have the possibility to both balance the populations and prevent one strong guild from gaming the system by playing both sides. It might help, but by itself is not sufficient.
