I don't get why this is even a problem? Who cares if you can cross faction talk, I think it adds diversity to the game.

It just hasn't been like that in other games I've played and seems odd to kill someone that is an enemy in world PvP, then have them whisper you. In other mmo's I've played the player would have to log onto a different character of the same alliance as yourself to whisper you. Or they would have to be account wide friends with you.

So basically you just want to make it harder to do something you can do no matter what.

It is pretty weird to get aggro/antagonizing whispers from opposite faction while you are fighting them. There should at least be an option to "turn off whispers from active enemies in cyr" rather than accumulating a long ignore list (I might want to sell something to those guys one day, I just don't want their aggro crap to fill my chat log). Some people just don't want to ever see that crap, so I don't see the harm in giving them the option to not receive whispers from enemies in their campaign.

My gf is one such player that would probably opt out of reading angry whispers from people we killed. Sometimes she gets a laugh out of it and says "I should tell them they just got killed by a girl!", but mostly she thinks it is *** and detracts from the experience and says "I wish I could just block all the enemy whispers".

    THIS PLEASE!

Would this be an ok option for you guys that are friends with, like to talk to and help out the other alliances?

@Famemonster you say this isn't like other MMO's you've played and as such want it removed.

If you want a game mechanic changed you need to list the reasons for and against it's removal. There was a thread about this a while back where people complained these whispers were used to create alliances and should as such be removed.

Most of the PVP community enjoys the fact they can talk to rivals about builds, arrange fights, learn intel on the third faction or simply give a good fight after a long battle.
Some do indeed use this for trolling and smacking talking, but we have an ignore lists for that and a report player feature if they cross the line.

In GW2 you had to party with someone from another faction to communicate with them. It wasnt an ideal system but I liked it because you could have control over if you wanted that nasty tell or not. If you diddnt want to hear what they had to say you just denied party invite.

Perhaps the game would send you a notification that some person wanted to chat with you and you get to accept/decline it? I would like to see this.

+1 to keeping the current system, although admittedly I don't get the aggressive junk. It's great to send a proper kudos rather than relying on emotes after those spontaneous 1v1 fights.

I definitely don't want to have to accept/decline or receive any notification that needs a response or adds keystrokes at all, especially in battle.

I don't find anything invasive about a blue comment popping up in my chat box, where I can respond if I want, or disregard without it intruding on gameplay. Some comments are saltier than others, but whatever.

I use it and like it.

When I get smashed by a player and check the death recap, if you've spammed one skill and one skill only, then you'll get tell from me. I'm human, I'll get pissy and you'll get a tell, then I move on. Probably my fault for being killed with one skill though :/

I'll use tell when I'm fighting someone in a fair fight and suddenly something happens that isn't fair and they die, I'll usually send them a sorry. Did this within the last 24 hours when I was fighting someone, then a player from my faction came in and started to vamp feed on him, he died quickly and couldn't do much about it. I sent the guy a tell to say sorry, it wasn't my plan. I was solo at the time and I wouldn't double team and do that.

Sent a tell to a good player that was fighting off about 4 of us on the Alessia Bridge, he went flying off the bridge in spectacular fashion, wish I would have got video of it. Sent him a quick tell to say that he had the most spectacular death I'd seen in a long time. That wasn't to stir or annoy, it generally was the case. Looked amaze balls.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

Yes, and you could also get an enemy into a group who could call down their entire server on your raid group. We got so we only invited people we knew into our raids so we would not constantly get wiped.

All racist in Cyrodiil speak a common language... There is absolutely no reason why you can't communicate with one another. Plus, how else are you supposed to smack talk guys you kill hahha.

I think your taking what I said a tad to literally, I was merely suggesting they add the option to read what they have to say or not. Be it an noninvasive way to do so with a well designed system. This way people can still send those tells but if you don't want to see them you don't have to.

OH MY IT JUST HIT ME!!!

    Add an option to /tells.

You can toggle offline/online atm. What if you could toggle your own faction/all factions? That way people can use whispers as much as they want with their own faction without having to get messages from other faction's players in PvP if they do not want to, while still preserving the current system!

I personaly would love this feature, and in foresight they should also make it so you can still have cross factions friends message you while you have only same faction toggled on. In fact, they could add a variety of options to this :open_mouth:

There's a really easy way to not get tells from opposing players... It's called right click, ignore. I find it really rude to ignore, I usually won't attack more than once, or kill a low level... Unless I'm on their ignore list... Then it's personal. How dare they not let me chat with them after I make a hat from their bum hahaha.

    Situation 1:
I had a fight and after that an enemie whispers in a friendly way.
Result: Such experiences are fine and some guys on my friendlist are those enemies i talked to.

    Situation 2:
I had a fight and after it an enemies is flaming. This is a bit annoying, but you can ask for their arguments. Maybe they misunderstood something, then it might become a nice situation. Maybe he is just flaming without "good" arguments ("you are cheating" is still my favourite flame), then you can ignore it/him. Maybe he is marked as "offline" while flaming, then you can laugh about him (cause he dös not want to solve the problem) and ignore him.
