No Lag Fix in 1.5.7, Still Not a Priority Evidently

This should help reduce some of the latency in large-scale PVP situations. This fix will likely go into the first incremental patch in January. Improving game performance in Cyrodiil (and ovreall) is still an ongoing effort.

I think Jessica may be getting tired of these lag threads. She doesn't usually make typos. We're tired of the lag threads too and wish we didn't have to make them.

Sorry, fixed! :) I blame cold fingers.

Not good enough. This has just been going on for waaaay too long.

If I'm not mistaken DC has just lost yet another guild, pretty much making Cyrodiil a 2 alliance war as DC just doesn't have the player base to fight anymore.

This is due to lag and population imbalance. It's too late Zeni, you've *** it. I can say for sure I won't be buying another Zenimax game in the near future and I would be very surprised if your console version sells anything with the ratings the PC version is going to get.

Probably your biggest mistake was not communicating with your PAYING player base. If there is a problem, TELL US. If you're having difficulty solving it, TELL US. If you think there may be a long delay in content, problem resolution etc, TELL US.

People don't know what to expect and end up fearing the worst if you don't communicate. As far as I'm aware Cyrodiil has finally snuffed it (if DC zone chat is anything to go by) in that DC has pretty much quit and I have even heard some EP players (via guild chat) claiming it's just not fun anymore. You took too long, didn't communicate and pushed back bug fixes for too long, it's over. Learn from this Zeni and make better decisions next time.

I totally agree with the above statement. ZOS has been cutting their own throats. Even some weapon sounds that were working just fine prior to update 5 rolling out and were broken are still unattended or as they like to say "We are aware of the problem and are Working on a Fix". They have a lot of things to fix and it seems that every update and patch to an update just creates more things to fix. It just gets old after a while and the constant issues and bugs just frustrate players. The Cyrodiil problem has really got old that is for sure and frankly I don't see anything good for its future. Think about it ZOS has had 7 months to work out the Cyrodiil problems.

ZoS, just remove AoE caps for a month or between patches just to see what effect that has. I don't think any player at this stage would be bothered about any possible negative effects this might have, we just want the lag to go. Surely its worth a try.

[quote="This is what people like me call 'ensuring failure'. Aside from the fact that the company would be replacing a team of experts with exactly the opposite, it would significantly increase the time-to-fix. By the time it was fixed, the better business decision would have been to simply reassign the team (instead of firing them) and stop trying to fix the problem.

By keeping a team on that has failed for 6 months on end is ensuring failure imo. If I were the boss of these people and they didn't deliver results in a month I would have fired these guys an found someone else. 6 months of bleeding subscriptions is an unacceptable loss as a company. Everyone is replaceable, including you at whatever job you do.

This is only true if you have a plentiful labor market and a relatively easy onboarding process.

MMO design and administration has neither. Its an extremely specialized field, trained staff are hard to find, and the onboarding process is not instant.

If they fired the entire team that ran ESO's network today, the replacements probably wouldn't be hired, trained in how ESO works and ready to work until April, maybe March if you are lucky, and they would still make all the mistakes the last team did over because they would lack the institutional knowledge needed to succeed quickly.

You either don't have any management experience/training, or have only managed in an industry with short onboarding and readily available labor (ie restaraunt, retail, etc).

That's not how it works in jobs like these.

There's probably someone out there who's job is on the line, but it will be one or two people. You don't fire an entire team for failure if you hired the right people to begin with. You probably replace a lower level or middle-level leader.[/quote]

Maybe Zos has done some of this and THAT'S whats taking so long? Maybe they did fire or have ppl quit and we can all pray they are getting up to speed as of right now. But waiting another month for any kind of fix? yikes, idk if the players are gonna be around that long.

Did I read that right? You said January, which is a whole month away?

I thought the incremental patches were the 1.5.x --> 1.5.x+1 patches and not the 1.5 --> 1.6 updates. Regardless if it is one month or two, that is still too much time to wait for a heart transplant when the patient is nearly dead from cardiac failure.

If anyone wonders why we are angry, it's because we are stuck in combat and have been since beta. Combat makes you angry. All I wanna do is hide behind a rock cause I accidently shot an arrow at a DK five minutes ago and he is about to mess my *** up.

They know the issues exist, give them some space to figure it out.

Space? I'm sorry, but it's been over 6 months now. I know of no other MMO I've ever played that would let this go for so long. Someone needs to be fired or go back to school. IDK, but something needs to be done. There isn't much if any communication from the devs except to pat themselves on the back showing us new content. Rather than fix the issue 100's of us deal with everyday in Cyrodiil.

    WOW
    SWG
    EVE
    SWTOR
    The Secret World
    Guild Wars
    Warhammer
    Age of Conan

All plagued by lag for lengthy amounts of time . Some were able to eventually manage it after years and system revamps , some never .

This is true and while setting here thinking about removing myself from it all, this actually made me want to stick with it and by the time it is fixed maybe TFL will be a big contender in the war of Cyro

Many of those games also gave healthy amounts of compensatory time to their customers to make up for it. In game pets and goody bags as well. All sorts of 'I'm sorry' bundles to show they were sincere.

With ESO we get the big middle finger.
