Suggestion: Changing Traits on Existing Equipment
... And maybe Style too.
It can be quite disappointing to finally get a rare drop you want only to find it has a rubbish trait like Charged or Exploration. Even if ZOS does eventually fix rubbish traits, we'd still likely want to fine-tune our equipment to suit our playstyle.
The way I envision this working is a new 9 points passive (corresponding to the 9 points creation passive) for each equipment crafting skill that allows you change the trait of a piece of equipment using the appropriate trait stone and 10 repair kits. Knowledge of both the trait being changed and the trait you're changing it to is required.
The reason I suggest a 9 points passive is because being a crafter doesn't require significant investment: they're easy to level and don't need that many skill points. I myself have all six crafting skills maxed out and still have plenty of points remaining for my combat builds. Since making crafting skills harder to level isn't an option (plus too many people have maxed them all out already), increasing the skill point investment will hopefully make people specialise in different crafting skills instead being able to take them all without too much effort.
Now, this is just my personal take on how it can work. If you disagree that's fine, the real suggestion I'm making is simply to let crafters change equipment traits.
