I made this comment here but thought it would be good to have wider forum feedback rather than bury this is a thread that wasnt read.
http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/141875/so-them-buff-servers#latestI have a solution to the Buff Servers and the population issue and the server load issue.
1. Keep Multiple campaigns but make them 7, 14 and 28 day (not 30).
2. Merge the points for
all campaigns and have the 7/14/28 day campaigns sync.
3. Make alliance war buffs depend on the actual war (ALL CAMPAIGNs COMBINED into a TOTAL).
4. Remove the home/guest concept. Go where you like...it doesnt matter anymore.
5. Merge the population count for all campaigns as the basis of the low pop bonus.
6. Use PVP faction vs Logged on Faction as a multiplyer on the low pop buffs.
This way there is no such thing as a buff server as the buffs all come from one source which is the COMBINED score. Think of it as ONE server.
There is no need for overloaded server + 3 buff servers. So everyone can spread out across any and all campaigns. Think of it is a different map in the same war (instead of multiple wars).
Buddies in once campaign are struggling to maintain keeps...jump in from you own server...but know you are making the other keeps vulnerable
People in any part of the world using US or EU servers dont have to worry about night capping so much as the WAR COMBINES scores over ALL time zones. OK not a total fix but lowers the effect of nightcapping.
Population is more balanced. No more low pop gaming by any faction as its impossible to be logged off from one war and play another. There is
ONLY ONE WAR. The population is the total across all campaigns. Lazy players currently get PVE buffs. So use a logged faction pop vs PVP faction pop as a multiplier on the PVE buffs. 100% PVP population gets 100% buffs. 0% PVP population gets 0% PVE buffs. This means if you want PVE buffs you better make sure most of your faction plays PVP.
A greater sense of community emerges among all campaigns and EU US servers as their fellow faction members are invaluable to their own progress in the war.
