Of course it's not the add-ons...it's our ROUTERS!

You need to unplug them and reset them and this solves everything...lag, loading screens, faulty class skills, quest bugs. It's a one-stop fix for everything ZOS related.

    Hey there folks,

We certainly understand that troubleshooting an issue can be frustrating at times. Troubleshooting tends to start at the tried-and-true suggestions that have worked for multiple people in the past. The step above is meant as a starting suggestion as opposed to an end-all-be-all solution, and we understand that your mileage may vary as far as certain steps are concerned.

If you are continuing to experience long loading screens after disabling add ons, please take a note of which area you are loading into so we can see if it's something consistent. If it's random, we'll take the opportunity to gather some additional information to see if there are any consistencies, and continue working on the issue from there.

This issue has been going on for months and I know for a fact, myself and many others have been submitting tickets regarding it (although I bet most were probably ignored - with the same kind of "blame the player not the game sentiment" you displayed earlier).

These loading screens occur EVERYWHERE. Let me say that again so you completely understand: they happen everywhere! Not just in certain places and not just at certain times. I've had loading screens that became infinite that were caused by just walking some meters. This has happened in trials, cyrodil, and vet dungeons. I'd say though, it happens most often when porting to a player or when porting to one place and porting to another soon after.

By now this issue is not just anecdotal. It is real and it is happening to many many players. Please do the community a favor; pass this up the chain and fix it before more of us get tired of dealing with it and just unsubscribe.

i actually do know at least one that was so frustrated by this issue that they have taken a, as they put it "done with this **** untill ZOS gets their act together"

that person had a really bad experience as a result of things and we were sad to see him go, but alot of the other guildies very much share the same opinion about these screens and the constant frustration they cause.

So no actual acknowledgement from any mods so far that this is actually a problem. I'm thinking this thread was moved to support so they could make it die. It certainly won't get the views here that it got in the general forum.

Response By Email (Jonathan) (12/09/2014 10:46 AM)
    Greetings Mike,

Thanks for contacting the Elder Scrolls Support Team, my name is Jon and I would be happy to assist you. I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble with the loading screens, however thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Please know that we are looking into it and hope to have this problem resolved as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we strongly suggest you try repairing The Elder Scrolls Online from the launcher. If that does not help, try adding exceptions to the game in your firewall and anti-virus software. To add ESO as an exception to your firewall and antivirus software, please look for the following files, which can be found in C:/Program Files (x86)/Zenimax Online:
    - ESO.exe
    - Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe
Please find the Zenimax Online folder (using the path above) and choose to exclude it. Be sure to include the eso.exe and launcher.exe files as exceptions also. Follow your specific instructions to add exceptions to your firewall and antivirus software, and then save the details of the exception. You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

If you are still having issues with loading screens, can you please reply to this email with your game consultant.

    Game Consultant:

Click on the golden cog icon in the top right corner of the game launcher.
Under SETTINGS - LAUNCHER, select the ABOUT tab. This tab includes the current launcher version, minimum specifications, and information about Game Consultant.
Click the Game Consultant button beneath the tool description.
A new window will pop up. When it does, click Run Tests. This may take a few minutes.
When the test is complete, a new window will pop up saying "Success!" The report saves itself as a text file called Report.txt in the My Documents folder.
To retrieve the file, click the Open Report Location button on the Game Consultant window, or click Open Report to simply view it.

Check out ESO Help channel for a step-by-step video on how to use The Elder Scrolls Online Game Consultant: http://youtu.be/3fNqpZE_4rs

Some kind of acknowledgement by the moderators that this is a problem beyond just using mods and news that it is being looked into would be awesome.

Shifting blame to the players on this really isn't acceptable anymore.

    Hello folks,

This is a multi-faceted issue, and when support offers what seem to be simple or useless troubleshooting steps it is to help narrow down the most common causes of excessive loading times. For many players these solutions have resolved their issues and we want to be sure to eliminate the simple causes and solutions as early as possible.

It can be very difficult to narrow down and troubleshoot what is a very broad symptom when we need to find the cause. We understand how frustrating it is to hear the same responses over and over again, but these issues are best handled one-on-one with tech support to determine the cause of your specific connectivity problem.

There can be issues not only with individual ISPs controlling the way our game data is accessed, but with the path your connection takes between your computer and our servers - and a whole host of issues both known and thus far unknown. A solution that works for one player may be an entirely different issue altogether for another player.

In order to determine the root cause of the loading times, crashes, and the myriad of similar issues reported, an individual investigation needs to occur. If it is determined to be on our side, we make every effort to get it resolved for our players. We do understand how frustrating it is, and we want you to be in the game having a great experience just as badly!

We thank you for your patience, and look forward to getting these issues resolved! If you have not yet submitted a help request to our support team, please be sure to do so including an up-to-date Game Consultant report, and we will be happy to contact you directly via your support ticket to get that individual investigation resolved. If you have not yet received assistance with a ticket you have submitted, please be sure to let us know the ticket number and we will be sure to check into why you have not yet had a response!

i would be intrested to know if somehow living in the same state as Zenimax Online Studios, about a hour away, is the culprit for slow loading times... (are the US servers in the same building?)

considering that updates zip by as fast as my ultra cheap low end basic cable package internet can actually support i am inclined to believe that is not the case.

crashes however i have no inkling to the cause... it seems to be entirely random atm as i can crash when standing around doing almost nothing.

this stuff said, i would be more than willing to submit what i can.

what i have noticed, that seems the be the cause of the extra loading screens when just running around,

from 1.4 to 1.5 terrain assets load MUCH slower and seem to cue up for sigificantly longer periods of time than it did before.

this change is most noticeable in Grahtwood, where porting into the bottom of elden root will see a long loading screen followed by you being an almost completly empty room where almost nothing but the base terrain itself has rendered yet, leaving all decorative rocks, NPCs, PCs, Enviromental art and effects slowly popping up one after the other...

if its like that when i port in and i start to run to the undaunted enclave, the game will throw me back into a loading screen usually before i hit the Guild Market road. this loading screen usually takes up to 40-50 seconds.

if i wait when i notice i have zoned in and basically nothing has rendered yet, and stand there and wait untill all active loading stops, i do not get that second loading screen..

so it seems that part of the problem is a unknown hit to performance in 1.5 that has caused all visual assets to load much slower and less efficiently than before.
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

Yeah you are correct and i can confirm that its not only in grahtwood but also in dc areas.
you enter the city or a map via a wayshrine and after the loading there is nothing and boom another loading screen :/
i can call this missplaced packages due to server gone wrong after 1.5. I mean as long as i have searched the net for similar issues ( and ofc on other game forums )
    thats to bad though :(
hope we get an in depth explanation from a tech guy from zeni. I mean come on we are paying -.-

Give us a simple button that resets the dungeon/raid instance without having to disband, leave the instance, and reform. This would alleviate 70% of the problem immediately (or it would at the very least allow us to avoid the most common source of frustration associated with the endless loadscreens).

If you are continuing to experience long loading screens after disabling add ons, please take a note of which area you are loading into so we can see if it's something consistent. If it's random, we'll take the opportunity to gather some additional information to see if there are any consistencies, and continue working on the issue from there.

We have also moved this topic to the Customer Support section as it is more fitting to the topic. It will also be an opportunity for other folks that may be experiencing this issue to find a similar topic. Thanks for your patience!

Wow, a new look for ZOS, blame the player base first... Seriously, most people have disabled addons including myself, actually pulled the saved variables folder out of and ran the game as is, and still got long loading screens. No specific zone in particular, it happens really random. This is not an addon issue but a game issue and with almost every player is having this issue. I do understand however the steps are the steps but someone seriously needs to start looking into it. Seeing as this problem is brand new again with 1.5 and if it was still existing pre 1.5 (after whatever fix was applied to stop this last time) then it was small and 1.5 made it much worse. I however did not start seeing this problem til 1.5 went live.
We have contacted our Customer support team to help you solve your issue.

If you continue to experience these issues, we ask that you submit a ticket with your game consultant report attached so you may receive more in depth troubleshooting.

Considering how many people have exactly the same issue, and how many people have failed at solving it using all of the previously mentioned tactics, I don't know how you can continue to give us this same exact line of thought. This isn't a matter of troubleshooting an issue on the players end. This is an issue on ZOS' end that you guys have thus far refused to really acknowledge.

@grimsfield, we have at no point denied that this issue occurs for some folks. It is simply better suited to a one-on-one tech support environment, as stated by Molly in the other topic. If you are experiencing the same issue, we ask that you submit a ticket to receive assistance.

As many of us have already submitted tickets or bug reports and would prefer to no longer be ignored on an individual basis, the forums are a better solution for us at this point. And as many of us are having exactly the same issue, it makes more sense to have a group response to it.

Please Gary, if you do respond to this issue again, please let it be to inform us that this issue is being looked into. That way we don't have to continue on with this pointless back and forth.

Yes I believe I have the exact reply you guys gave me posted in this topic, if you have a look at the reply I recieved you can probably guess why I didn't respond to it. Telling me to change settings in my antivirus software is not really helpful.

If the reply had left it at "We are already aware of this issue and are looking into it." I wouldn't still be pursuing this. Instead I got the reply, "I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble with the loading screens, however thank you for bringing this issue to our attention," as if I was the very first person to contact you about this, which I know I was not. Unfortunately, this kind of response didn't motivate me to reply.

Well i can agree with @grimsfield‌ on the topic.
im currently yet again trying the uninstall - install classic fix. Its the last time though. Then ill apply the largepage.uni etc...
    - if that doeant help ZoS best approach to the subject should be a 64bit client to at least use more of ppl systems... also before all that they should fix the server-player connection with a fix included in 1.6... cause up till now every patch just makes things worse for us -.-

    [PSA]: @ZOS_GaryA‌
I have solved my excessive loading screen times by changing two lines in the "usersettings.txt" file.
    SET RequestedNumJobThreads "-1"
    SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "-1"

setting these lines to "-1" enables better usage of multiple processor cores, and atleast in my case MASSIVELY reduced the time spend in loading screens.

However, note that zenimax support usually reccomends to set these lines to "0", since the "-1" setting causes micro-stuttering for many people
(no microstutters for me though so far)

Edit: also note that this change in the settings file did NOTHING to prevent the "endless loading screens" issues (but luckily for me I only get those very, very rarely). It only solves the "very long loading screens which eventually end on their own" issue.
