Anyone Notice Lower Populations?

Since this last campaign ended, I have noticed a near 25-35% reduction in AD population on Thornblade ->NA<-, and a HUGE drop in the DC population.

The populations in the other NA campaigns has not gone up considering the amount of players that seem to be missing from Thorn, which was -Extremely- active this last campaign.

So, what gives?

Have a lot of players left Pvp? The Game itself?

I think a lot of our pugs hate being outgunned constantly.

It may be fun for us more organized guilds to take on the bigger numbers constantly outnumbered, but to our pugs and very casual players, i think it becomes old.

30 days going hard takes a bit out of you. I know it took a bit out of me.

I've been chilling today trying to decide if I'm gonna make a new build. Should I switch to magicka just to shake things up? Should I stay stam and run new weapons ect.

Blame this on the lag. The lag last night was horrendous, and there weren't even big zergball fights going on!!

This is the biggest reason for avoiding Cyrodiil, at least in this one's case. I will not speak on behalf of the PUGs, even though I normally am one; I will speak on behalf of myself and my PUG experience.

Most of the time I enter Cyrodiil with PvP in mind, I want a fun, dynamic battle in which I feel like I have a solid chance at success. Even during desperate defenses, I want to still feel like we have a chance to repel the enemy. This is often not the case unless I am in an organized group. It becomes highly frustrating when the battles are defeat after overwhelming defeat against the same enemies. If I did not have organized groups I am in contact with, I would likely not return to Cyrodiil, knowing that I have no chance to experience warfare with sportsmanship.

Yes! I noticed a large drop off after six month subs ended. As an example I was playing this last Sunday morning and there were 1-2 bars whereas in the past it was locked.

There were at least two large zerg battles at BRK mine last night as I was present for both of them. One of them was particularly nasty with skills not inflicting damage for several minutes. Then pretty much all of EP wiped simultaneously while AD remained mostly unscathed.

Forced PvE in the form of Undaunted passives and armor plus the ongoing lack of improvement on the PvP front should be two important factors.

With the sad state of Cyrodiil and the increasing favor on things to do in PvE, the populations will pretty much continue to drop.

Can't say anything about NA times but I'm honestly surprised AD didn't lose more than Brindle or Roe during Oceanic prime time with the numbers being fielded yesterday.

This. Especially since the new Thorn cycle started dc seems badly outmanned and demoralized until prime time. I'm seeing fewer of the core, non primetime players, and those there are logging less time.

Every morning I log to see that EP has pushed us to our gates (actually started the last day of the last cycle), and we can barely get the numbers to retake a resource. Not using zerg-goggles, I counted 21 ep buzzing around my corpse at Warden mine yesterday, 21 for a resource at a gate keep that didn't even havea scroll on that side. DC may not have had that many people on total. Its getting harder and harder to put a group together, and many drop after being quashed by far greater numbers 2 or 3 times in a row.

Even one of the diehards bounced yesterday, saying of all things "I think I have a few anchors on Grahtwood to knock out". This is a guy I haven't seen out of Cyrodiil in months.

I left for a few hours and came back to find that we still hadn't put up the numbers needed to retake warden. I farmed Bal Foyen until I saw that we had finally put up 2 bars of pop at 4pm my time.

It seems as if it's getting worse, especially in the mornings/afternoons.

EP seems buoyed by its wins, so has stuck around, but the 2nd/3rd place faction populations have dropped precipitously.

I just stopped participating in pvp altogether, cause I've gotten tired of the monotomous keep warfare stuff really.

Between that, there's not really much to do, and running across people in the open world is far and few, cause theres not much reason for anyone to be out in the open really. Not all that much to do.

Crafting nodes are few and spread out, once you get all the skyshards, no point in going to those places, the repeatable quests are meh. lot of monsters packed up in small areas leaving wide vacant areas full of nothing but fields.

I think a lot of it has to do with DA:I. For some reason I feel the DC crowd is older and therefore more people trying to relive their Baldur's Gate II heyday by throwing themselves into all things bioware. DA:I and ELite Dangerous has pretty much made up my mind for me and I have canceled my sub until the ship gets righted.

Before I logged last night, due to the incessant lag, AD still had a pop advantage. Dont know why there's so much QQ about EP having the largest pop, when there are AD raids deciding to stay off of Thorn and go PvDoor Azura's with 40+ :P

Agreed, I left thorn tonight after 20 mins, I don't know why I bothered lag fest.

The sad thing is those who stack and spam aoe and heals cause this, and they are doing it intentionally. Sure its in the game, but they can't win any other way.

I have decided next time I go in, I'm not even going to bother defending keeps or any of that nonsense because these folks will just lag the server. I don't call having a high ping a good time, these folks are doing this because it gives them an advantage.

All ZOS has to do is give impulse and the like the Bolt Escape Nerf and buff the bejesus out of siege. Right now most folks don't bother with siege because your better off to spam impulse and that's a shame.

I refuse to stack spam aoe. Its poor sportsman ship, and it goes against the spirit of the game to Intentionally lag a server for an advantage.

Also, folks can lol this post all you want, DC folks are leaving, they are tired of it, good luck playing a game with no one to kill. Keep it up, if things continue, thornblade will be a ghost town because folks are tired of a few guilds lagging the server out making the game unplayable for them. Its a shame really to see so many DC gone, but I don't blame them, I'm probably joining them soon.

I'm not going to continue to pay for a game that lags to unplayable all the time, why should I continue to pay for something that don't work right half the time?

They need to fix this, I don't care how, just fix it. They are driving a large portion if their playbase away with this, and the drop in DC population is proof in the pudding.

What these folks are doing is an exploit any ways. The definition of an exploit is using a system, game, etc in a way the developer never intended to install malicious software, gain an advantage in a game, etc.

The lag these folks are causing is actually a form of ddos. Denial of service by lagging the game where actions can not be taken, scroll resets, disconnects. Etc....thats exactly what a DOS is...denying someone the use of a service.

A few people are ruining this game for the majority....all it would take is for ZOS to grow a backbone and bring the ban hammer down, they would only need to do it once and this nonsense would stop. Its well within their TOS to do this, they have language in their about effecting others peoples ability to pksy the game, purposeful lag would falk under that provision.

However uts doubtful they do anything about it, they obviously don't care...purposely lag any steam online game, or COD etc and watch how fast your VAC banned, they don't put up with that nonsense, but intentionally lagging the server for scroll resets seems to be perfectly acceptable to ZOS.

If its not, then put invisible game masters in the game and start tagging these people, I'd even be ok with a warning first before bringing Dow the ban hammer, but they need to do something and soon because this is ruining pvp for everyone.
