The problem is that going by foot takes ages so you will be too late to take part at the fight. Moreover its totally boring to run 5 minutes.
However if you ride you will be hit by some snipe fall of your horse and die before you can do anything. Especially when there are groups of several players all sniping you, so you instantly die without any way to react.
I don't mind being killed on my way to some keep. I do mind if I just instadie from invisible players without being able to do anything against it.

PS: You will fall off your horse even if you dont sprint. Looking at yout surrounding doesn't help as sneaking peoplr are invisible.

then all i can say is don't ride your horse through the woods alone. get a teammate to help you.

when you ride a horse, you expose yourself to gankers like me, who are more than happy to take advantage of the opening you have provided.

There are players that i never gank. I see names in PvP keep battles i never killed out on the roads, so it is possible to avoid being ganked.
In a game where you can take a keep faster than you can ride there from the next keep, not riding isn't really an option.

Even if you have full stamina you will probably be dismounted from some 1.6k snipe + 600 camo hunter. Havnt tested this in detail tho. And when I play solo I don't want to wait for some good player to come around as running with some pug won't change anything especially with different horse speed levels. I don't mind the big startup damage that I take when I don't die while being stunned at floor. Imo you should be able to stunbreak the fall-of-knockdown. Having it an 2 second unbreakable cc is just too much.

I think it's quite interesting that Cyrodiil is a dangerous place and you constantly run the risk of ambushes and snipers when encroaching in enemy territory. It makes the war realistic and dynamic with more going on than zergball meets zergball at xyz keep. There are small skirmishes all over the map, it's useful for small groups to hold chokepoints and when there's a battle being lost, the DKs try to hold the enemy engaged so the sorcerers or nightblades can retreat to revive the rest later. When there's a wipe, we know we lost and it's time to start again, maybe at an another objective.

Sometimes, I feel keep walls should have more hit points, the system should alert when they come under attack sooner (75%) and porting to that keep should be available longer (25%) but that would make it even more impossible for smaller groups to go on the offense against zergy guilds/factions with a lot of population.

All insults aside, I will concede the point that terrorism (i.e. ganking) is a valid form of warfare. However, so is zerging. In real warfare, there is no shortage of troop transport by land, air, and sea. That is what forward camps simulate. The solution is fairly simple. Dedicate a spot near a keep for placing forward camps that only becomes active after 2 of 3 resources at that keep are taken. This eliminates the problem of troll camps and still allows ganking since gankers will always know the location of the forward camp. Too easy.

Ganking is a valid tactic. It's also very boring gameplay for those who choose not to do it. (or I could try my Templar healer gank)

Stealth is a hugely problematic mechanic to balance in games like this, but some people love the play style of the stalking ganker, so every game since WoW has had it.

no matter what you think, it is PvP. if you ride your horse at max speed to a keep along contested territory, you run the risk of being jumped. you can play the "i cant fight back" victim card all you want. if you dont want to get ganked, then stop riding at max speed thru the woods. however, like you said, doing this risks you missing out on the battle. either way, you are taking a risk. sometimes they play out, sometimes they do not.

i dont mean to sound like a bully, but stop whining already and accept the fact that sometimes you will end up getting beat.

OP, are you saying don't kill me on an open field while I'm riding from one place to another?!

How about ZOS makes keeps and resources and a 50m range from them the only spots that you can target an enemy? That'd be awesome!

You, as a prima donna scrub farmer, should know the answer to this question all too well
