It dont has to be. My UI now contains about at least 10 Addons. These are just the ones i can see directly on the screen. Not even mentioning all the small ones. Without them i am helpless. It has to be better by standard.
You guys already said most my concerns too Magnus and Attorney.

Doesn't surprise me one bit they slothed it off yet again despite the horrid UI being one of the game's most critical problems as I predicted 18+ months ago and have written volumes about in feedback for them ever since. Time and again from current and now former players they lost, I'm told the lack of game info and clunky, featureless UI as a result, was a major factor as to what is wrong with ESO. If they hope for the console launch to save them they're going to need a working UI for it because the pc reviews and hype is pretty bad for them due to this, and the console versions they've said in interviews will not allow for addon functionality.
Sad thing is they can still make a lot of money with the game even without fixing this. But it will be remembered as a failure if they do so..

Considering that console players will probably not be joining us in this request for a better UI design, we could assume they are counting on that fact. "Look, half of our players base is satisfied with what they have.".
I mean, it's clear that console was a big influence on this UI design. I am not saying ti was done purely for consoles, but what we have now is definitely not a PC standard for UI design. And they know it.

Yah, the UI is 100% based on consoles but I disagree that console players will not join us in this request. What I do think is that many won't buy the game when they hear about the awful UI. Just wait for the first reports stating that it's unfair that PC players can mod the UI and that console players are stuck with the sucky base UI and that that alone ruins the whole game.
What are the chances ZOS would simply disallow add-ons as a solution?
I happen to like the UI, If you don't like it there are plenty of addons.

No mention of "broken" anywhere, but since you're a "Die Hard ZOS fanboy" (till ZOS eventually themselves contradict your statements when they recognize they where wrong like they did in Quakecon), doesn't surprise me you come & try to make a ridiculous statement in a thread asking for improvements though. As for the patches breaking addons it has nothing to do with aesthetic choices.
Ah, gotcha. So it's not broken, but it needs to be fixed. Isn't there a saying about that?
But I'm posting here for others' benefit; your use of the word "fanboy" pretty much negates any ghost of a point you might have.
You're ridiculous. Zenimax went to Quakecon saying basically they had [snip]ed up and where going to fix what they had done wrong (by the way, you've been defending everything they do since day one, which includes the things they admitted to [snip]ing up. Which actually negates any ghost of a point you've ever had and could ever have when defending ZOS like a mindless drone.
A list of things I haven't approved of ZO doing (notice that I didn't post a giant rant on the forums whining about it):
- Making starter islands optional.
- Nerfing early solo content (Doshia, etc.)
- Nerfing VR content
- Offering whiny players the chance to get a dog in the future
- Not penalizing people for exploiting bugs for grinding
There are other things, but my lack of "Waaaa, fix this, fix it now ZO!" rage is simply an indication that I use other methods of communication and that I'm an adult.
