Your thoughts on acquiring the new Dwemer style.

Eh, I have never, ever found a rare motif and it's not for lack of trying. So far I have not been able to find one Dwemer motif, so par for the course. They seem pretty rare for me at least. Some people have argued that the rarity is bugged but as far as I can tell, it's working as intended. I'll never buy them and will keep looking instead. But I've come to accept that I almost certainly won't find one.

I wonder if you can get them from personal quests that happens to be on Dwemer ruin...like fighter guild quest where we go with sees all color, if i remember it correctly it's on a Dwemer ruin.

I don't really mind the drop rate for the chapters, I guess. It's farmable while still being rare... but it's so boring. There's no real gameplay to it, just open jars and hope. So many other ways it could've been done.

Compared to the 9th trait, the Dwemer motif was a breeze to collect. Much less soul crushing than the Upper Craglorn hamster wheel.

I have always thought Motif Books were nonsense. Anyone with the skill to build a suit of armor out of one kind of material could learn a new way of making it just by deconstructing enough examples of a new style. So if my Argonian smith deconstructed enough Nordic armor he would learn how to make it sooner or later.

This make way too much sense to be implemented by ZOS.

It's ok. You are going to have some players that want to rush and get it (like me, got them all second day after patch) and some that are fine with just buying or waiting for random drops.

If you really got ALL of them second day...that is complete BS...they are supposed to be rare. At that rate they should be green. They are more common than a fishy stick recipe.

They were rare, it took a lot of work to get those. Going through various ruins all day, buying, trading, etc. b/c that is what I wanted to focus on for my character. I may have just been lucky as well, some of my friends did the same and still have a few missing.

How many characters are you playing on? What level are they and where are you farming?

I'm using 5 characters, I cycle through them and each goes through about 11 ruins. Except my dedicated Mzeneldt farmer. He just runs to the end but doesn't finish the FG quest so he can go back. 258 containers in Mzeneldt, although the ones that have around 25 containers are still OK, you can get through them real quick. Only problem is that the empty containers syndrome is mostly fixed but not completely. I keep getting an empty Aldunz and that is one of the best DC ruins with 68 containers.

All you can do is bug report and hope they finally fix drops.

I am v14 and looted every stinkin container since early access. I never found a motive besides 4-5 blue ones. I used to have my weekly "motif" run but all i found was nothing. And i have little time to play so i can't waste it with loot runs. I only PvP now. But when PvE obtained gears gets better then PvP obtained gear i might reconsider my game interests. Because i don't even have time for trials or raids and if i do hjave time nobody wants a bow wielding NB.

The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Just as a side note, I saw a bow wielding NB do 1.5k+ dps in vet COA just a few days ago. Which is the hardest vet dungeon in game, so he had to block, dodge and run around a lot while doing that, too. So don't be so quick to diminish your build;)

EDIT:on the actual topic: while me and ESO rng don't usually get on well, I got all the pages by now just by running through Avanchnzel cave in Rift on my 2 toons every time I logged in. Also got a ton of pepper, red wheat and other mildly ueful stuff on the way, so not too bad. The purple pages seem to drop about as often as blue motifs/recipes, not that hard to find if you have some patience and time. Alternatively, people are selling them for 10k a piece now, which is much better than original 30-40k.

I don't see much point making a lot of effort to get the chapters if I can't find enough materials to get the frames to use them. They're still overpriced for what you get.

I usually run Avanchnzel twice a day and the level 15 fighters guild quest once or twice a day. Lately, they have been grocery runs. I am getting one page to drop a day. But, my provisioner character is very happy as I am getting salt and pepper daily doing this. Now, only if oats and tomatoes were in the containers.

I thought relog farming containers for purple books was dumb when I was doing it four months ago. It's still dumb now.

I was averaging one motif chapter for every 4-5 sweeps through a ruin. After collecting 4 chapters and 1 duplicate, I said to heck with it and bought the remaining 10 chapters at guild stores. I had just over 900K in gold before my spending spree so I won't miss the gold used to purchase those missing chapters.

I don't think I will be getting them. I don't do farming, and even purchasing them is a hassle.

Found one on my level 30-something alt in the Dwemer solo dungeon in Aliki'r yesterday so that was a nice surprise. I'll be giving them all to my husband though, who is the armor crafter. I'm the Provisioner so I'm always looking in every crate and barrel I come across anyway.

I spent the better part of two days traveling to all the ruins to farm. I was able to find 1 page (inner sea armature) on the very first attempt immediately after I logged in....then nothing. I was getting occasional scraps to drop.

I'm hearing that drop rates seemed to be higher immediately after logging in which mirrors what I experienced but I wanted to try farming them naturally.

Now I'm thinking it only makes sense to keep relogging to reset the same dungeon in an attempt to get the drop rates others are reporting.

If you can commit to a full day of farming is your best bet but most don't have that kind of time so try to put aside 2 hours of time if you can and at very least an hour. If you do find one, take a break for a couple hours and do something else before you look again unless you have other toons that can look, the time won't affect them once you find one.

Some have said they've found more than one within 1 hour but I searched A BUNCH and never found 2 within an hour and a half of each other. Seems to me an hour and a half is the magic number so try this.

Yes! Even though I don't spend a lot of time farming them (I usually do one dungeon and then go do something else), my stock of salt, pepper, onions, red wheat and potatoes is looking really good.

And I don't think I'll ever run out of Filtered Water or Cloud Mist again...

Though the scraps really are harder to get (one reason I prefer to farm in the Silver area - DC for me).

You can make some coin selling that.
