I personally use the Orbweaver. Im a little older lol so using just the keyboard and mouse was a little hard for me. I use the joystick for movement also and the mouse for direction etc. I use the button above the joystick for swap and the one below for my ultimate. I have the default keys for movement reprogrammed for my dodge/rolls. Using the mouse and the thumb joystick together is excellent for kiting with a bow. I use the top keys for my 5 abilities. Great for ergonomics my hand dont get tired and its adjustable. It is pricey though.

It will take a bit of getting used to but once you do its a great game tool.

You might want to really look at those two products again before you buy.
It's actually the G13 that has the weird knob thing instead of a d pad.

My husband uses a G13 and I use a tartarus. He said the thumb joystick thingy was really hard to get used to for movement, but he really likes it now.

Also the G13 is huge. It's much bigger than it looks in pictures.

I just wanted to point out a couple things about the Tartarus/Orbweaver. They DO have 2 buttons near the thumb, although that wasn't reviewed in the video. There is a button above the joystick, and one below (it kind of looks like a thumb rest). If you look at the pics of the Tartarus/Orbweaver, that big thing below the joystick is a button - you can push down on it to activate. I believe any button on these can be used as a modifier key, including that bottom thumb button, although I could be wrong about that.

Also, the joysticks on the Razer ones actually "click" when you push them in a direction. It is not free moving like a joystick on a console controller would be. This is one thing I do not like about it, because it makes you have to use more force to move it. It is very minimal force, but noticeable - especially at first. Honestly, this caused thumb strain for me at first. Once I got used to it, I didn't have any further problems, but it could be something you do not like.

The biggest factor for me would be comfort. A controller could be the most user friendly, perfectly set up controller in the world, but it wouldn't make a difference if you can't use it for more than a little bit at a time due to pain. The G13 looks like it could cause problems after prolonged use. It could be something you get used to (like the Razer joystick in my case), or it could cause chronic pain. There is no way to know unless you use it for en extended period of time - probably more time than what would be allowed under a return policy.

I would suggest going to a local store that sells both of these and see if they will let you take them out of the box. Test them out a little to see if one is more comfortable for you than the other. Unfortunately, this will only be "initial comfort", as it will take a good bit of playing time to see if it will cause pain in the long run. In my case, my mouse causes more strain to my hand (really my wrist) than the Tartarus does. I have to use a micro mouse because normal mice are too big for my hand, so its possible that is what causes this.

In either case, the choice is up to you, and what is most important to you. The G13 does have some nice features, but the Razer ones are nice as well. And yes, they are game changers, no matter which you choose. There is no way I could play this game with just a mouse and the regular keyboard.
