Is there any practical reason to complete achievements or is it just for the fun of it? (i.e. will your achievements points actually be used to calculate your champion points?)

I've been achievement hunting myself, again just for fun, but would try hard (like fishing) if it meant something more.

I tried it once, but I'm not an achievement chaser (Not downing those that are, its just not me) The rewards of the few spots I tried weren't equal to the time given to do so imo. Spare time is better spent harvesting materials and selling.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

No matter what they add to the drop table, the overall experience will be pretty boring simply because the mechanics of 'press key'...'wait'... 'press key' isn't the least bit engaging. There's no tug-of-war, no battle with the fish, and worst of all you can't even see any fish swimming in the water, just the occasional 2d animation from the fishing hole splashes.

Adding recipes or changing fish to be useful in recipes only makes it slightly less painful of a task. A fishing 'overhaul' would have to be really from the ground-up to be exciting, but in a game like this it will always be too low of a priority.

You should add a how to your sentence.. thats my question.

If you do, HOW do you find it enjoyable?

I tried but no reward and no challange so...pointless.

Haha - people do a lot of things in life that don't necessarily have any adrenalin or high-powered reward attached. I think there are plenty of people who realise that rushing around going "RAAAAAR" at life isn't actually all that satisfying, sometimes you just want to sit back and relax.
The guild I am in had a really great fishing event, we all fished and sat around chatting on teamspeak -we found it really good fun.
Tip - different people like different things. Try to remember that as you go through life (and the internet, and games), and you will do well.

wow this is exactly right! that's how I think.

I fish sometimes, but not recently, I've been getting my three mains into vet levels and finally trying a new Nightblade, which so far is working.

I will one day get back to fishing, and I have caught a few uncommon fish, but no rares yet.

If you have others fishing at the same spot, you are more likely to get a rare fish. Just trying to tempt you...

Hey guys there is defiantly no shortage of fishing spots through out this lovely land and no shortage of bait. I'm just wondering how many people actively engage in this?

If you do, do u find it enjoyable?
Do you just do it for the achievements?

Have your ever caught a rare fish?

If you dont fish, have you tried it?

I have seen guilds have fishing events and there was even a fishing guild but I don't see much of it going on.

I know it may be bad to some people but im really interested as I have never ran past anywhere and gone hey look that guys is fishing.. other then NPCS :)

Myself I have tried it but never found it engaging. like I just caught a huge longfish but it was tiny little tug in the water haha I would like to be dragged out to sea just once because the fish was to big to catch, and no one has story's of the ones that got away hahah

Honestly, when I'm feeling a little outdoorsy I'll take a nice trip to the fishing hole!! Plus, when I'm a low level and I need some easy money, fishing is the way to go :) Most of the "Trophy" fish you catch are worth like 3 gold each and you can catch quite a few in a short amount of time so it's not too bad when you're a level 1 or something trying to by your first staff :)

Yeah, but wouldn't you need to take the motif to a bookmaker (the type who make books) to get it to a readable standard??

Geez, don't lecture me. I even asked if it was just for fun or is there more of a reason..and your answer is no, it's just for fun. Not sure you're right on that though, achievements might actually = champion points. But not sure...that's why I asked.

I like fishing. Most of the time. When things get frustrating in Cyrodiil I love taking a break to go fishing. You get pretty colors for some of the achievements, you get a lot of flowers and other mats while bouncing from hole to hole, and in most spots the scenery is amazing. The only times I don't like it is when I get a crappy fishing hole where I'm left staring at a rock or something.

I do wish they'd make it more useful. I really expected it to be part of provisioning and am a bit disappointed it's not. Maybe one day.

I fish. I do find it enjoyable, it's a nice break every once in a while. It's also nice to do in groups of 2-3. It's actually fun to listen to folks in TS fishing together when we are just hanging out.

    "Slaughterfish"

Have your ever caught a rare fish?

Yes. I have the blue fish in the three starter zones, and I have the 12 rare fish in Stonefalls, Deshaan, Cyrodiil and Craglorn. I'm missing one blue fish out of Shadowfen and I have a varied number in some of the other zones from random fishing while waiting for groups to form or helping a friend get the few last fish they needed in that zone, but I'm working my way up the zones, so I'm not keeping track of them just yet.

If you are serious about fishing, the Rare Fish Tracker addon is very useful.

As @Epona222‌ said, the Master Angler title is the one I will wear when I get it. :-P
I don't actually wear titles right now.

It's easier to do in small groups, and you can sometimes find a fishing buddy by saying something in Zone Chat.

Fishing is one of the many OCD types of achievements along with things like Master Refiner. There is a satisfaction from finally completing an almost mindless task that requires endless grinding. It's nice to get a title and/or a dye but I have a feeling those who complete these achievements would do them anyway. I's quite challenging to get the Master Angler title, and while the act of fishing is rather dull, finding all those fish requires a lot of exploring and determination.

About worms, too bad many view them as trash instead of getting them into the economy. There are several forum threads that deal with fishing in detail, including how to get worms. The easiest is to look for bargains in guild stores, a bargain being around 1k/100 or less.

I'm torn beween using my Master Angler or Monster Hunter title. :)

My friend and I fish when we don't know what to do or are waiting to get into the very long wait times for Cyrodiil. We've never caught rare fish or anything but its just fun to chase spots around.

I also want to add that it could be more rewarding and not seen as a waste of time if they added special items (trophies/pets etc) that there is a chance of getting when you fish. We've always wanted to be able to pull a casket out of the pond to loot it and find gold, and anything from armor/weapons to enchanting mats or more bait.

As I said for trophies, it would be cool if you had a small chance to catch an enormous fish then could do some kind of emote with it like hold it over your head showing off your catch and displaying yourself as the king fisher.

Even though I don't fish myself, I am glad it is in the game. Sometimes I will stop by a hole and make a few casts if I have picked up some guts or insects or something. I also enjoy seeing other players fishing as I am going along doing my thing. It reminds me of growing up in Florida where I would see people at just about every body of water with a pole and a line spending their time fishing.

I do wish the Fish could be used for something, like Food Recipes, I might fish some more if that was the case.

And I agree with the previous poster. I've gotten some pretty useful stuff from gunny sacks. Certainly not the reason to fish, but a nice little added bonus to find something useful now and then.

I fished a lot during beta as a social distraction while I typed in guild chat and such but I find that I never fish anymore. There isn't really enough reward for me personally. They could go Fable style and give you a low chance of pulling a piece of armor or something out of the water to boost the incentive.
