Nothing is UNIQUE or SPECIAL!

You need to make some UNIQUE stuff that not everyone can get their hands on! I tell my friends, or I go to work and tell my co workers who play ESO... "yeah I found a purple recipe last night" and they go "nice I think I have that one" or "cool I haven't found that on yet". and that's the end of it. There's no motivation to run home and get on the game for anyone to put some time in to find some unique drops or treasure that not everyone will find without luck and putting in time actually doing something other then looking in pots for ***.
To sum it up you've been giving out participation trophies since the game was released. That doesn't make people want to participate. (well some I suppose! but that's what America is coming to.) The most unique thing I have is a pig I bought off eBay! Other then that nobody has ever asked about anything other then that pig and even now nobody asks about it anymore. I had to buy that just to say to my friend I've got it, you don't, and probably never will! Time for bacon I suppose...

As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

I agree with you 100%. But you agreed with me also by saying, "They're simply not cut out to deliver this feeling to every single one of their millions of players." That's exactly what im all about. Don't give that feeling to everyone. I'm not trying to stand out exactly but I want a goal, a reason to go waste time looking for something that I may never find.
Why do you think everyone is looking for the Dwemer books? Its somewhat unique right now. Everyone can get it eventually but right now its special. I dropped what I was doing and went and found a page. Felt fun again, not grinding, questing, trialing, etc. Just looking for something I may not find, but not everyone has it.

You are talking about rare items that other players can see. You know.....look at me, look what I got! Anyone can do that.

If you want to be unique or have something that no other, or few other, players have, items are not where it's at.

Take me for example. I'm one of the very few players who will be able to craft 9 trait sets for every armor and weapon type on a single toon.

Do you have every achievement? Have you been Emperor?

Well, maybe the promise of temporarily achieving a partial (i.e. not global) uniqueness is used as a strong motivation by developers across the board? Think carrots-on-a-stick...

Over the years, I found that the less I compare myself to others, and the more I "write my own strory" by setting my own goals and try to achive them in my own time, the more fun I get out of playing.

Life lesson: no one listens to you or respects what you have to say when you have poor reading comprehension and even poorer grammar.

Also, I agree with OP. The game needs to stop nerfing stuff into the ground and handing out the same garbage participation ribbon to everyone.

Not everyone is equal, not everyone is the best. Get used to it. I seriously don't understand why the industry trend is to try to make everyone feel like this. It's seriously getting worse than peewee soccer.

But if the participation medals are given to everyone, and not all of us are idiots... isn't this the same as saying we're not the best, we're not special?

The current mechanics say "If you do this thing enough, and do it well, you'll get what you're after." That's a pretty good message.

The only downside for me is that the "thing" in question tends to be farming containers or certain monsters over and over again and hoping for a good dice roll, which kinda sucks. Hard to feel special about such a thing.

There are no unique items in an MMO, you might get RARE items but not unique. An item, be it armour, weapon or GeeGaw takes some time to code, that's money to a company, and if only one person can have it, then it's bad time management (cash wasted).

Did I hurt your feelings? Lol

I was just kidding around, sorry you are wound up so tight. I comprehend what I read quite well.

Further more if you really want to be special do every achieve in the game, I'm willing to be very few have done it. Or better yet get a team together and get the top time in sanctum of ophidia.

You complain about participation ribbons but that's exactly what your calling for, only unique ones. Farming for hours is nothing unique or special, its participating.

I agree with some of that Shinra but that stuff is going to come with time and I don't have a lot of free time. Your mostly talking about all the very end game stuff. Get 1 char from every class to V14? Why? *** im still working on getting 1 char to V14. lol. I did start another char at one point, got them to level 7 and was like im not doing this again and haven't played them since.
What about all the stuff in the meantime like questing areas, caves and dungeons that have no reason to even explore or go into more then once other then to knock it off the list saying you completed it. Even the bosses and dolmens. You complete it and congrats heres 25 gold and a couple items your going to deconstruct or sell. How does killing the boss of a cave not have a chance to drop something special enough to go back and kill him again to try to get something out of it. Maybe even a 24 hour buff or SOMETHING!
Its just "FILLER" and feels like a waste of time. Im almost done with all 3 factions and in all of tamriel theres not a single reason to go back to any area in the game. They did add undaunted stuff but even then you run the dungeon just to complete it. Theres no sense of adventure while your in there like hey maybe ill find that rare drop or something this time.
And yes I've PVPd. I can only do it so long before I get bored. They die and run back, they kill you and you run back. Its all about how bad you can beat them till they leave. In most cases its usually me that gets sick of being killed lol. Of course PVPing drunk doesn't help but that's on me I suppose.
Why the hell cant I get a rare chance of taming a guar and riding that. That's the special *** im talking about.

I don't know, I like to collect interesting hats and wear them with my crafted/dyed armor to match. I've gotten some questions now and then about my Nighblade's owl mask (Cowl of the Hawk's Eye) or my Sorcerer's Swedish Crayfish Party Hat (The Crown of the Lich, dyed daedric red).

If you mix and match interesting gear and dye it pretty, you can look a little unique, despite this being a MMO.

And yeah, the pig pet is always good for starting a random bacon conversation.

You can make any armor in the game unique with Dyes. I have yet to see the same exact combo twice unless it was a stock set of armor. And, since dyes look different on each material and armor style, it would be almost impossible to see two characters in the same place with dyed armor that looks exactly the same unless they collaborated on the armor, material, style, temper and dye choice.

Heck, with all the stock style and material choices it would be hard to see two characters that look exactly the same in the same place.

This is ignoring the faces and body types we create.

It is very easy to be unique in this game.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

One of my guildies last not got a helm that is in the shape of a Crocodiles head (best way I can describe this with the lack of sleep I had and the combined alcohol) in the tool tip it says something about the 2 piece set gives you a 10-15% chance (can't remember) of summoning a daedroth for a period of time that shoots firey breath. Looked awesome, and it's the first time I've seen that set, and I'd say it's pretty unique.

But yes, if say you've got yourself a set of Hundigs Rage, made it Legendary then you are just like the other 1,000 people with a Legendary set of Hundigs Rage. But so what? Does it really matter all that much.

It's in the same vein as being the chosen one, EVERYONE that plays ESO and defeats Molag Bal is the chosen one.

Sorry, but you are not special and either is your gear.

I agree with some of that Shinra but that stuff is going to come with time and I don't have a lot of free time. Your mostly talking about all the very end game stuff.

So you basically want unique things and be special without using time? Even if something has a drop rate of 0,1%, if it's interesting enough everybody will have it at the end. Not only you. The only factor not everybody is going to invest is the kind of eternity you need for the real awesome stuff. (and real money)
Get 1 char from every class to V14? Why? *** im still working on getting 1 char to V14. lol. I did start another char at one point, got them to level 7 and was like im not doing this again and haven't played them since.

Well 4 Chars on V14 would be special after all. Whatever random group you find, you can fill out with the class and skills that are needed for that specific dungeon.

I agree on that. Nothing much useful to get here. But not every stupid dungeon should hold something special for me. IF it would be like that, getting something special or seeing something special would be pretty common and nothing special anymore.

Its just "FILLER" and feels like a waste of time. Im almost done with all 3 factions and in all of tamriel theres not a single reason to go back to any area in the game. Theres nothing there to go look for or do.

Go back and defeat all world bosses solo. Only yesterday I managed to defeat the V8 Worldboss Gargoyle alone. Not everybody can claim to have done that, and it's enough to brag about for a day. Or go back to play anchors, many of them. And get the "Daedric Lord Slayer" Achivement to brag about. Or at least the "Savior of Nirn"
(Except look for dwemer pages now) And notice everyone has dropped what they are doing and went back to look for them... or so it seems. They did add undaunted stuff but even then you run the dungeon just to complete it. Theres no sense of adventure while your in there like hey maybe ill find that rare drop or something this time.

Appeartently you just don't know that you can get that unique stuff you are looking for in those undaunted quests now. I mean, sets that only use TWO FREAKING PIECES to complete them, all unique, and one let's you summon a freakin DEADROTH on light attacks with a 5 % chance.
ps. I am still looking for the "Healing Mage" Ring that will let me reduce my enemies power with healing spells :p That would be pretty awesome, but that ring isn't tradeable so I will look for him for a while.

Look for a PvP Guild. Things get way more interesting when you have one.

Anyways don't get me wrong I enjoy the game, but it can be better. Some of you will agree, some wont. Either way it doesn't matter. CHEERS.

Everybody will be riding the guar in the end. Nothing special about it. Just as boring as Nirnhoned, Twice born star, Seducer, Hunding's Rage, Warlock, or all the rare motifs like daedric or dwemer.

    To OP:

I agree with you 100%, I made a post (dunno how to link so you have to search for it: Ideas to improve the game. Devs please read.

where i take up the loot or rather lack of loot problem.

There are some raredrops for achievments though... but I'd like to see for example crafting (weapon/armor) blueprints drop.. as it is now all crafters can do all the same stuff... really no point in guildvendors since they all offer the same old stuff (usually to almost the same pricing) and since you probably already is a member of atleast 1 tradeguild its just easier to shop from bank than find a guildvendor...

Once you got your set (either do it yourself if you are a crafter or ask a guildcrafter.. takes like 5 mins) there is no point to shop for anything else than pots...
