Site hasn't been updated since 1.4 patch and the latest patch note to be featured on the main page is the 1.3 patch.

It ESO really that uninteresting that a site like this is withering away?

Has it just not been updated in a while, or did the creators say that it's been sunset? Either way, I have been missing their regular book updates :(

I don't think this is the case at all, since plenty of other sites are still going strong and growing.

I've heard nothing but, "don't use ESOHead, it's inaccurate," and the like ever since I started playing this game at launch. I figured it was right, never went.

That's probably why the site is dying-- it has a bad reputation, deserved or not.

There is no info potential in there, we didnt need it since the loot in ESO was always 100% random

Ironic is that now when patch 1.5 brought us exclusive items such as helms, dropped only by certain bosses, such site might come handy.

To be honest, I miss the mechanic where only certain mobs in certain area could drop specific items

This game has never really had a "big" fan site since launch. TamrielFoundry is probably the biggest, and it's still a huge ghost town most of the time. There's no good item database, there's no good place to discuss "hardcore" character builds / strategies. There's no big guild website like Elitist Jerks. There's no MMO Champion, no deep class analysis anywhere.

There's just no need for it because this is such a "casual" game, at least in its current state.

The people who make and maintain these types of tools are the hardcore players. This game isn't very appealing to a hardcore player.

I've got a lot of data that I keep for myself locally. I don't have time to keep up with maintaining a site, but I've been wanting to upload some of it here. I've got sets/load outs that most players have probably never even considered. It seems a lot of builds that I see are geared only towards PvP or trials, not for the casual PvE player.

ESOHead is the only skill calculator I use. I haven't found another. Anyways, it takes quite a lot of work to keep these sites updated. In your free time, do you want to spend hours doing this, or would you rather just play the game?

It is disappointing that ESO does not have a fanbase cataloguing things, like different motif styles and so on.

Especially the uncraftable ones, like this:

I see a lot of sites that don't hold any content, but are designed in a fashion that indicates passion (or a good fan-site kit at least). With respect to any ES game, I never understood the effort to compete with uesp.net, though.

Once things can actually settle in (and work) for some period of time, the site might get the update you're looking for.

Sites like ESOHead, WOWHead or Thottbot only exist because power gamer & Elitists use them.

If the site shuts down then this is actually a good sign for ESO as it shows that for these people ESO isn't interesting enough so that we might sooner or later be free from griefing, elitism and trolling.

This game is changing too fast and the grinding "vr 1-14" suc.s terribly. Beside that I understand that there is no continuity/stability at the moment due to major changes every 6 weeks so keeping up addons/information websites is simply too much work because of all the "ongoing adjustments in an inperfect game".. That's my opynion

Sites like ESOHead are very good at judging the mood of the gaming public, they wont invest time and resources into a site if they see the game 'dive-bombing' into obscurity and 'retro' status.

No reason to play at moment, no End game...no real RP...no housing...no investment incentives...VR ranks gone but new system no where near ready yet so probably a few months of people wondering if they should bother or not.

Without a good solid reason to play each day then games like this will quickly lose appeal to the masses (those masses are SINGLE players) nobody is really bothered about grouping everyday to do the same dungeon over and over, they just want a place to go hang out and chat, do other stuff if they want to. Its called Reality Displacement. We used to go hang out on street corners in groups and just well nothing really, now we do that in Online games. RP has kept games like UO and Horizons (now called Istaria) going for over 10 years (17 for UO) Both have one thing in common....a massive time sink on crafting, this game basically has no crafting (yes I am saying the current system is poor at best) 1 click to learn a trait then wait 12 days until it's learnt.....that's just lazy not game grabbing. EVE can do that because there is so much other stuff to be doing and so many skills to learn.....in ESO your never gonna use most of those traits they make us have to learn....NEVER!!!.

This one however don't have a reason to even do that, nothing to work towards, no house or base to spend hours/months/years decorating (look at UO and Rift to see how much time peeps spend just creating their online house).

They are going down the wrong road PVP that has seen the end of many a promising game. PVP players are 'fly by night' gamers and will leave a game for the next 'big thing' at the drop of a hat. You will never satisfy them as they are never happy until their own char build is 'god mode' and then the rest moan etc.
By 'balancing' PVP you end up ruining the PVE experience for everyone else....no, PVP is just very bad full-stop for every MMO that has tried (and failed) to do it well.

But they wont learn, listen until it's too late again....

ZAM, that's the company that runs all the "head" sites like ESOhead, WOWhead, Hearthead, Rifthead... just doesn't make money with ESO players.
How often do you need information from them? Some people use the skill
calculator once in a while but that's not generating income for ZAM.
No visitors, no advertising, no income.
And when a company doesn't make money they drop the project.

That's the truth behind the downfall of ESOhead.

What i really find curious was that they usually make an addon to mine data just like they did in WoW but I never saw it for ESO (i usually use it to support the site).

From my experience and opinion in the ESOhead they didn't even make the effort to be as good as the others head sites, even the quest tracking sucked in comparison, or the loot drop tables, or the mining / gathering spawn nodes maps that didn't exist and for me that was the reason that their site was doom from the beginning.

While I agreed that those kind of sites are really useful, the most missed feature for me will be the skill calculator.

    RIP ESOhead ç.ç

Yeah, of all the skill calcs I used, theirs was the most intuitively designed for just basic skill arrangement. Too bad the values were always way off, and now the effects themselves aren't even accurate.

Apparently they're working to bring the site back up to date.

    From ESOHead forums:
Heyas, I'm Calthine and I'm now the ZAM Admin for Esohead.

I've requested a data update for Esohead. Unlike many of our other sites, it's not an automated process and won't be instant. You should see an update soon(tm).
Man, I wrote an awesome reply to this thread today and apparently forgot to hit "submit." Story of my life. So here's where we're at:

Since Esohead launched we've made vast improvements to the architecture of our sites. Esohead uses an older version which makes it problematic work on. Before we can go forward with anything, even data updates, the backend needs to be updated. It isn't a fast or simple process, but will be totally worth it in the end. I'm also hoping it might automagically take care of some outstanding issues.

Complicating things are the impending holidays, which grant us a couple of very short work weeks.

Long story short, you won't see any visible change on Esohead until after the turn of the year. It's already in progress, but it's not stuff y'all can see. I hate to even say it, you've been so patient, but you'll have to wait a little bit longer.

Poor Esohead hasn't been put out to pasture, not yet And for whatever it's worth, you've got me. And I have cookies.
