Area taunt for tanks is sorely needed

    I think tanks are in serious need of some kind of area taunt, when running dungeons it's very hard to keep aggro from all the mobs, and running around poking them one by one would be just insane. The new skill could be added to the Undaunted skill line, so it's accessible to all classes if needed. It could be either stamina or magicka based, as long as it doesn't consume to much of it.

    Maybe not a full ranged AE taunt, grabbing the entire room. Would be a little to easy (and most tanks would probably explode).

    But how about changing one Inner Fire or Puncture morph, let it taunt 3 enemies in close mele range? It's not unreasonable, I mean most of the room would still be on the loose, archers and mage's would still need CC.

    I'm mostly thinking and comparing it to how Talon spam with 3 targets works on my DK. Talon spam pretty much functions as a 3 target taunt in close mele range (for me at least). Than Scales grabbing a lot of ranged aggro.

    Really feel like I'm lacking simliar tools when I'm playing my other classes, trying to derp tank lol. Worse of is definitely sorcerer, they don't even have a PBAoE, while Encase is way to expensive.

    See, the taunt this for this game really isn't needed, i would rather the damage spread around the group a bit. My tank holds aggro on maybe 2 or 3 mobs in a fight, really the ones that can kill the soft guys in 1 shot are the only ones that get taunted. if healing is a problem i would recommend changing some stuff or applying more ground heals in the general area til the dps can kill a few

    Tanking is fine without an AOE taunt. The tank's job is only to taunt the most dangerous mobs, like the 2handers. In the current state of the game, it is not necessary to taunt every mob in trash pulls because trash pulls die really fast in every single place in the game.

    Furthermore, every class has an AOE skill to draw aggro:

    Nightblade: Sap Essence
    Templar: Solar Barrage and Puncturing Sweep
    Sorc: Lightning form

    "taunt" is a little dated, as far as game mechanics go. there could be better methods, trapping, barrier...things you would use on the battlefield against an intelligent opponent...taunting seldom works in a real battle.

    You're obviously not a soldier. The method is different in a game, but in real life we most certainly do taunt. Draw fire to one group while the other sneaks around to ambush.

    The art of tanking in this game is special and challenging. You do it wrong and your group eats the wrong damage. An Aoe taunt applied to eso is just going to make the class boring and easy road. Better learn to tank.

    I agree but dont agree that it should be allowed to be used by all classes.

    Inner Fire & puncture works for our guild tanks. They run trials, dsa, undaunted stuff

    Every MMO out there has tanks with area taunts. Everything that can add some extra strategy to the game should be considered. If you want to stick to the status quo good for you, but that doesn't mean the game cannot be improved. If you don't want an area taunt then just don't waste your skill points on it.

    Strategy includes working without tools you would normally see. If the tank could just aggro everything, then wouldn't that encourage one-sided skill development? What you are in fact advocating is for ESO to match the status quo for MMO's. I doubt that you knowingly want that and I doubt that you recognize that your comment is steeped in hypocrisy.

    Trash mob threat in this game is handled differently. Here we use aoe Roots, and AOE snares, and aoe debuffs. We used to have an AOE taunt in beta, I think it was in the fighters guild or undaunted but it got removed in live. For some reason I think it was an ultimate.

    When you engage a mob wave they will all have different agro targets, but they will all share the same path toward those targets. That path is behind you as the tank. If you place snares and CC's at the convergence point you can lock them over time so that the AOE can take them down before they leave the snare. The more debuffs you have on them like Cinderstorm the less damage those mobs can do to group members. You can also use the AOE of deep slash to reduce the mob damage to the group. It's just a different way of handling it than traditional MMOs.

    As a tank i don't really feel that i need any area taunt, i can easily managed to target 5-10 mobs quite fast and agro them in DSA Vet Mode and in dungeons for Undaunted plages i just start fights with Caltrops and Choking Talons what forces ads to focus on me first and then just taunt most dangerous enemies. But what i really would like to see - is an some kind of AoE ability which would replay taunt on ads in small radius around you - who were already tuned by you. Becous taunting big numbers of ads is not a real problem, but holding agro all the time when you have at list 5-7 ads on you with different abilitiys, you need to be very careful to avid there deadly mecanics, watch you steps, watch you hp, watch for the battlefield and for new ads if they are coming - in such situations is extreamly hard to reaply taunt on ads who lost agro, cous you simply can't target them in such a mass.
