What?

Sadly, there are better sets from drops - which is why I'm asking for change.
Or make it where crafters can learn to make that set item. They have to research the item and it always takes 30 days (no new crafters being able to crank em out fast). New skill that is a level 50 in craft needed. Needs some kind of resource to create researched set item, maybe something that you have a chance to get from breaking down set items.

That would be a way around the issue. Have to know a certain number of traits, and to have deconstructed the piece in question in order to make it.

If I ever get a 5 piece set from drops, then I will see if they are better. Until then it is all theoretical to me. Since I have yet in this game ever gotten all 5 pieces from a set, any set, the dropped sets are always worse than the crafted sets. I have 800 hours into the game, and I farm dungeons for loot (its more fun than farming for mats). So I have spent the time looking for these things.
For example, I can get 4 Robes of the Warlock, 3 Cowls, 3 Rings, 1 epaulet, but if I don't get the necklace, it does not matter. This has gone on with every dropped set I have come across, I get 2 to 4 pieces of the set, never the 5th. Based on that, the ones I make are better than the ones that drop and I always have control over what I am getting. Elegant, Claws of the Dragon, Ice Furnace, you name it, I have a partial set.
Even if I were to get all 5 pieces I would still have to craft something to fix the wholes in my gear as far as sets goes, so I just craft my sets and don't worry about the dropped sets other than fodder for the guild stores or more often, deconstruction for mats.
And, yes I have looked at buying parts or entire dropped sets from the stores. Finding all 5 pieces is just as much a snipe hunt as going out looting for it.
So, to me, Crafted Sets will always be better than dropped sets.
itt: people upset that the world isn't perfect.

Yes, it hurts some good gear, but it gives other good gear a chance at being really good. Just gotta roll with it and stop QQing.
IMO traits should be limited to the most used ones or we should have the ability to modify the traits as crafters (preferably in Update 6).

God your missing a point here, if they limit it to popular traits, then the unpopular traits will disappear, so nobody will have the option of using them, at which point people will be complaining about the limited trait options.
Making popular traits fall more often is as far as any game should go, no more than that. Even then people will be complaining they can't get a trait for a piece of gear, you know for the rarity value.

You have a valid point, then again, giving out armor for end game chars with useless traits such as exploration and sturdy is totally useless. Wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea for them to disappear from the end game.

I'm also sick of stupid sets that has Divines traits on everything. Generally, I'm pretty much sick of your random crap ZOS. Is it too much to ask for that you actually spend some time and add optimal traits to the items? If you're not going to bother, then at least allow crafters to CHANGE the traits...
Also, since when does end-game players need exploration on end-game PvE gear?

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but wasn't that supposed to be the upside of crafting?

Guild merchants. Use them. Any set piece you want.
