    This is one of the reasons the game is rated M. And like a good book, the Elder Scrolls never fails to include politics and other social elements that may, at times, remind us of our own world. This is really wonderful element in story telling that gives people a chance to look at something from a different perspective. It may make them change their own beliefs, or fortify them.

    Don't worry, you both missed the Khajiiti Traders not being allowed in the cities (Whiterun, at least), in Skyrim.
    As Ahkari the Khajiiti merchant who was roaming the holds of Skyrim admitted, the locals saw the cat-people as skooma-addled kleptomaniacs. That stereotype, on top of being one of the backward, savage "beast races", contributed to their ban from trading inside major cities.

    Technically the Argonians were being segregated to prevent hostility with the Dark Elves, but they were also being treated as near slave labor as they had to work longer hours for a small fraction of what non-Argonians were paid.

    So there were stereotype-driven rationals and excuses for the treatment of both Khajiit and Argonians, whose biological appearance and traditional culture were considered odd, ugly, or inferior. In other words, the essence of racism.

    Remember how you were introduced to Baldur's Gate? "Cleaner than an Elven arse". After i got over the shock of British dwarves from Somerset, my half-elf meekly remonstrated with the uncouth Dwarven innkeeper thus. "Um yeah sweetie, ur the daddy, got any quests involving collecting stuff for rewards." Or something like.
    This is just a straw man we like to burn at the bard's college to take our minds off the divine right of kings. Waddaya mean the divines actually exist? Well this is all just annoying.

    In Morrowind, Argonians were kept slaves, in Oblivion the different races reacted differently depending on your race. In Skyrim, Khajiit weren't allowed into cities, Dunmer were kept separate from Nords in Windhelm, don't get me started on the Thalmor.

    Racism is a recurring theme in ES games.

    You should have played Witcher. The men are racist to all other races.

    And yes.... i hate elves to with their pointy ears and presumptuous smugs and stuck up attitudes.;

The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

    What is a smug? Adjective yeah, but noun? Ah these mortal humans. Let's face it, we elves can use your language better than you. And earn more money by taking your jobs :pointy-eared smug: I like how you reference the Witcher and you explicitly say ''the men''. Clever.

    Honestly, as a Redguard(oh irony)....i cant stand Khajiit. The entire culture and appearance and how they live makes me sick. I despise how they talk in 3rd person as well.....its like they are so doped up on skooma they think they arent in their own bodies. All that fur too....makes me not even want to fathom the intimacy these creatures have when they propagate. Gross.

    If anything, I'm more often disappointed when an NPC (I haven't done much roleplay) *doesn't* respond to my character's race/gender when clearly the plot and character development would warrant it.

    I know it means more voice acting and coding, but it's weird to have someone who is openly angry or racist toward Argonians not expressing that to my Argonian character. Or someone sympathetic to Argonians (especially Argonians themselves) not recognizing my character as one of them.

    I meant that one queen was talking about racism,as was another character. Not just naming other races. I've played Morrowind,Oblivion, and Skyrim, but no one was actually calling out rasicm by the word.Just indicating it.

    I don't understand the comment you are making; for example are you seeing racism from players in chat? Or are you seeing (more likely) references to the racism among some Altmer towards Bosmer and Khajiit? There are a number of references and at least one quest related to the later; it's part of the story in ESO and part of the broader story in the ES franchise.

    NOT in chat, but in one of the cities in Auridon, the queen calls her enemies Racists,as do several others there. They make open slurs to the other race, whichever one it was. Insinuating it doesnt give me pause at all.It was just when they said it that it made me kinda cringe and took me by surprise.
    ( I need to be more careful what I post on t his site.Everyone loves to get onto you for anything.)
