Screen Flickering

Ever since the 1.1.2 patch my load screen has been flickering. I get a sort of double vision. This happens on all the load screens. I did not change any video settings, but I did try updating video drivers but nothing seemed to help. I have a Radeon R9 200 series vid card and I am running Windows 7.
The problem is so bad that when I exit the game my whole computer is flickering and I have to reboot. This is not happening in any other game.
I tried the repair option after the patch, thinking it was a bad download but that didn't help.
Any advice? Is this happening to anyone else. I did see some older posts from people that had it happen a while back.

This is happening to mine. Started right after the Patch. Exact same thing. Even when I quit the game the screen still flickers. I have an Radeon R9 270X. Windows 7.

I think I've found a work around. At least it worked for me. Launch ESO. The screen is flashing like crazy but if you can get to the settings and change from "Fullscreen" to "Windowed Fullscreen" to should fix the problem the next time you launch the game. Since the graphic drivers have already crashed you'll have to reboot your system after you make the change. Once you reboot and launch the game it will run in "Windowed Fullscreen" and the flickering will never start and you can play the game normally. It worked for me.

I'm having the same issue with a GTX 780 running Win 8.1. As mentioned above, the flickering persists after the game is closed, requiring a system restart.

I'll try the "Windowed Fullscreen" suggestion when I return home. Thanks for the suggestion, Forester.

Thanks Forester07, I did change my screen to Windowed Fullscreen and disabled the pre game splash screens. ( I forget how, somewhere in the setting.txt file.) That seemed to fix it completely.

Having the same problem after the 1.4 update. Gigabyte 280x Windforce 3. No previous issues and no settings has been changed. The windowed full screen work around has put a band-aid on it.

If you getting flashing with two nearly identical images, one slightly offset from the other - one more left one more right - then you need to disable 3d. That is what 3d with shutter type glasses looks like.

    Hey there @TGiordano92,

A large majority of the time, this is due to monitors with a refresh rate that exceeds 60hz. If you are using a monitor with a high refresh rate, we suggest setting your rate to 60hz to see if it helps. To do this, right click anywhere on your desktop and select Screen Resolution. Click the blue "Advanced Settings," and then choose the Monitor tab on the new window that pops up.

If you continue to experience issues after editing your refresh rate, please let us know!

    Hey there @TGiordano92,

It's a long shot since it's occurring on both computers, but just as a question; Do you happen to have Stereoscopic 3D enabled by mistake on either computer?

This option can be found in the Nvidia control panel, which can be accessed by right clicking on your desktop and selecting Nvidia Control Panel. On the left, select "Set up Stereoscopic 3D, and make sure the check box is not enabled.

We've had cases in the past where folks who've never used 3D features ended up with this enabled somehow, so let us know if it helps. If not, we'll be happy to continue assisting you.

If the NV 3d driver is installed playing WOW can enable it. Known bug.

In the case if WOW it cant be disabled. If you dont use it - provided it is installed - might want to uninstall it.

    That's frustrating.

Is the nv 3d driver installed? If your not using it there is no harm in uninstalling it and that would put a stake though the heard of it being 3d driver related.

It will auto install during driver updates.

Do you have or have ever had any 3d glasses or anything else along those lines?

Wish I could see what this looks like. Over the eyars I have has many things go wrong with my own systems - with them being home build and no support to call I've had to figure a lot if things out. Seeing it would help me know if it is something I've run into personally.

Have you tried a full, clean re-install of the gpu driver and chipset drivers?

I just re-read the first post.

You have an AMD card? Right?

I know nothing about the particulars on those.

Have an old nvidia card to swap out and double check? (I know its a pain - would let us know if it is the gpu or the rest of the system)

I am beginning to think it is ESO. I have tried different networks, different computers(one with 7970m AMD, one with 780ti) and still have the stuttering on both.

    Hey there @TGiordano92‌,

We have a few steps for stuttering that other folks have had some success with. Would you mind making the following edits and let us know if it helps?
There are also a few settings in the Usersettings.txt file that you can change to improve your performance. Please close ESO first, then make these changes. This file is located at Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\Live.

As with any document change, we advise creating a back up of the original file in an alternate location. This will allow you to restore your usersettings to their old values in case the new ones are less optimal.

Simply open the file with Notepad and make the following changes:

    Change:
    SET GPUSmoothingFrames "10"
    To:
    SET GPUSmoothingFrames "3"

    Change:
    SET PreferExclusiveFullscreen "0"
    To:
    SET PreferExclusiveFullscreen "1"

    Find this section and Change:

    SET RequestedNumJobThreads "-1"
    SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "-1"
    To:
    SET RequestedNumJobThreads "0"
    SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "0"

Only thing they both have in common is windows 8.1 pro.

I also run 8.1 pro and have made the changes in the post follow the one I am now quoting.

I do on rare occasion have one of my monitors go out of sync when launching the game. I've posted on another thread about that. I wonder if it is related.

I seem to recall a way to go into the windows control panel and force manual sync settings -- wonder if forcing it to 60.01/75/59 or something would help (just make sure monitor and gpu both state compliance with the setting you try)

Old thread, but changing to an Nvidia card solved my problem with this.
