So it appears that there is no way to get to Betnikh without doing the Stros M'kai quests? I only wanted the Skyshards.

Try traveling to a guild mate who's there. It should work.
Edit: I think it has to be someone in your alliance. I've found all kinds of places traveling to random guild mates.

Or ask a VR Ranked Guildmate in your alliance to go there, then travel to them.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

True, but there really are not that many quests to do to get to the next area.

It's like an hour maybe two if you don't listen to the dialogs.

Not many go there, so even with 3 near 500 active member trade guilds I didn't see someone there while I was on. I ended up just doing the quest on Stros. I did as little as possible and practically sprinted through the whole thing. Didn't time it but it was well under an hour.

This^^. It takes a few hours, and you can get some xp for new skills.

Pretty sure it can be done in less than hour too... think there is like 5 must be done things to advance from which you are maybe able to skip 2 or 3. If I remember correctly what you had to do there was to get the shipping logs or manifest or something and you could gather some people to aid with additional quests but could have went to fetching it without them too. Once you have the documents you are ready to go Betnikh.

Yes, you can skip most of it, I didn't because I was trying to level up a new weapon line (going to try to get all weapons and armours to at least level 30). But I think you only need to recruit/rescue one of Captain Kaleens associates, and then hit the palace.

Speaking of which, why is she
so annoyed with me at the end of the next zone, I mean I get there having helped her out, have little interaction with her or her crew. And at the end she is barely speaking to me, did I miss some HUGE mission or dialogue???

    She is annoyed because
you chose to destroy orb, and sided with the Orcs. She wanted to keep the orb and use it as a weapon for the Covenant

Ah, ok, that makes sense now.

    That is because
you will have chosen to destroy that soul orb thingy, instead of keeping it as a weapon for the Covenant. King Orc Growbruggy or whatever is chuffed with you, but Khaleen feels that you betrayed your people by destroying a valuable resource.

Funnily enough, I ran that quest with a random person who was struggling with the boss, and she chose the opposite option. That was when I learned something that I have corroborated on multiple other quests - that choices in ESO usually mean nothing more than different NPC dialogue. Frig, even the quest rewards were exactly the same!
