A game withing a game. What I'm talking about here is the experience I've had with ESO so far.
It seems somewhere along the way, ESO has become the minigame, and the real game I'm playing between the quick dungeon run "breaks" is a Sim-esque Inventory Management Simulator. Say what you will about theoretically available bank space, the reality is it's nowhere even remotely close to being reasonably priced. Yes, a fully upgraded bank seems to be the ultimate end-game gear for your character!
ESO does a lot of things well. I truly enjoy the game when I get to play it. How many months has it been since launch? Why am I still waiting to be able to store items in a bank? Well TBH, I'm not waiting anymore. Zenimax has had their chance. Not only did they launch a game without thinking about how to store the plethora of wonderful items they provided us with, but they have yet to even acknowledge there is an issue.
Over the months, I found myself playing less and less, and wanting to play less since the majority of my time was spent dealing with what is hands down the poorest banking system I have encountered in any MMO.
Now, I have moved on to other games, and can't see myself supporting a company that has no intention on providing a banking system that's remotely functional. Having to use alternate characters for banking space is beyond absurd.
Will I resubscribe in the future? Honestly, I probably won't. I've paid Zenimax for several months that I didn't even log in already in hopes they might fix this fatal flaw. Not only has this game-breaking issue not been resolved, but it hasn't even been acknowledged by Zenimax as an issue at all. I may check back in 6 months or so to see if this has been fixed, but I'm not holding my breath any longer.
To the Zenimax employee that reads and locks this thread:
Please fix the banking system. Give players enough space within their first 20 - 30 levels or so that they don't have to use alts at all to do any banking. Give players enough space for the kittenload of crafting mats you put in the game, and several sets of armor and several weapons.
And FFS: Don't make maps, pets, Collector's Edition items take up inventory space! Honestly, I don't see how this game got out of beta without that last issue being addressed. Srsly, That's a no-brainer.
I would like to thank the dev staff for providing a great game. I had tons of fun on the rare occasion I was playing the actual game instead of swapping items between characters. It really is a shame such a great game is ruined by such a trivial part of the game that appears to have been overlooked completely.
I wish you the best of luck in the upcoming months for ESO and hope someone reads this who can affect some change to the issue that has caused me enough grief to quit playing an otherwise exceptional game.
