ESO: The Minigame?

A game withing a game. What I'm talking about here is the experience I've had with ESO so far.

It seems somewhere along the way, ESO has become the minigame, and the real game I'm playing between the quick dungeon run "breaks" is a Sim-esque Inventory Management Simulator. Say what you will about theoretically available bank space, the reality is it's nowhere even remotely close to being reasonably priced. Yes, a fully upgraded bank seems to be the ultimate end-game gear for your character!

ESO does a lot of things well. I truly enjoy the game when I get to play it. How many months has it been since launch? Why am I still waiting to be able to store items in a bank? Well TBH, I'm not waiting anymore. Zenimax has had their chance. Not only did they launch a game without thinking about how to store the plethora of wonderful items they provided us with, but they have yet to even acknowledge there is an issue.

Over the months, I found myself playing less and less, and wanting to play less since the majority of my time was spent dealing with what is hands down the poorest banking system I have encountered in any MMO.

Now, I have moved on to other games, and can't see myself supporting a company that has no intention on providing a banking system that's remotely functional. Having to use alternate characters for banking space is beyond absurd.

Will I resubscribe in the future? Honestly, I probably won't. I've paid Zenimax for several months that I didn't even log in already in hopes they might fix this fatal flaw. Not only has this game-breaking issue not been resolved, but it hasn't even been acknowledged by Zenimax as an issue at all. I may check back in 6 months or so to see if this has been fixed, but I'm not holding my breath any longer.

To the Zenimax employee that reads and locks this thread:
Please fix the banking system. Give players enough space within their first 20 - 30 levels or so that they don't have to use alts at all to do any banking. Give players enough space for the kittenload of crafting mats you put in the game, and several sets of armor and several weapons.

And FFS: Don't make maps, pets, Collector's Edition items take up inventory space! Honestly, I don't see how this game got out of beta without that last issue being addressed. Srsly, That's a no-brainer.

I would like to thank the dev staff for providing a great game. I had tons of fun on the rare occasion I was playing the actual game instead of swapping items between characters. It really is a shame such a great game is ruined by such a trivial part of the game that appears to have been overlooked completely.

I wish you the best of luck in the upcoming months for ESO and hope someone reads this who can affect some change to the issue that has caused me enough grief to quit playing an otherwise exceptional game.

The poor bank space is intended. This is why they do not acknowledge that there is a problem. It's to keep us from being able to store crafting materials for every craft and therefore, make us work with other players to get what we need rather than being self-sustainable.

Perhaps that was the intention. If a player obtained the max banking space available then they would be able to store mats for 1 character with 2 professions and armor / weapons. Maybe even some items for an alt or two.

Sadly, I am nowhere near max bank space and don't really feel like grinding for several months just to afford bank space. Yes, it should cost money, but by them time your first character gets to max level you should have made enough to max the bank out and still have money left for leveling along the way.

At least that's how successful games have done it in the past. It's up to Zenimax whether or not they want to be successful. Please, feel free to make grinding the inventory space more tedious and time consuming than playing the game.

I'm sure there will be people who continue to pay. As for me; I already have a job, thanks. Unless you want to start paying me for the time I spend filing items for you. Yeah, I thought not.

There is plenty of bag and bank space available in this game. I personally don't find the cost to be an issue. I have more than enough inventory space to craft EVERYTHING without the need to go to anyone for materials.

Max bag upgrade space on a single character is 110 slots. Purchase a horse and feed it only oats until it's maxed out, then you have 160 slots on that character, not even counting bank space yet.

Multiply that by 8 characters, and you have 1,280 slots, not even counting bank space. Add in bank space, and the total goes to 1,520 slots.

As you can see, there are more than enough inventory slots to do every craft and store multiple sets of weapons, armor, etc....

Once you get to the veteran ranks, you'll have more gold than you know what to do with and the bank, bag, and horse prices aren't anywhere near as expensive as you thought they were.

OP, sorry you've had a bad experience, but I'm going to have to side with a couple of the other people here. If the bank space is enough of an issue for you to quit the game, then you must not be enjoying the game very much otherwise.

I do three different crafting professions, and have only upgraded bank and inventory space a couple times each. There's plenty of space and more is easily affordable. I could pay for more and easily take on another profession or two, and that's not counting inventory space on alts.

The inventory management part of the game is actually pretty fun if you ask me. If it felt limitless you could just hoard everything and what's the point in that? There has to be a point where you choose which materials to keep and which to get rid of.

ESO is the minigame of the TESO forums .

Because the concept and their statement is funny when the whole crafting system does not promote much trading at all and it can be easily overridden with mule alts. If they wanted to encourage trading a limited bank would be almost the last thing they may have done to actually promote that. It seems that the problem might be a really limited badly coded database that may not be able to support large banks. The performance of the bank and guild stores up to now do seem to imply that this is the case. But then again the limited space is not that bad either as long as it doesn't glitch.
